There is no such thing as a must-win game at this point in the season but tonight is as close as it comes for Gilbert and crew. Flint is not good and if we lose tonight with fresh legs (no 3rd in 3 excuse) and most likely Cormier in net, Gilbert may be gone before the weekend. I have no inside info whatsoever but I do know that Goslin wants to win really really bad and Garber may want it even more so to lose to the worst 2 teams at home may be the final straw for this coaching staff. Say what you want about them as "hockey people" but I'm telling you (because I've been around both of them) that they want to win more than anyone else in the league.
Not sure if Sills will be playing for Flint...he had a slew foot penalty and was out at least 1 game and if it's 2, he'll miss tonight. He's a pretty dirty player that I wouldn't mind seeing in street clothes tonight.
Hopefully we'll see a good, fast, physical game tonight and that they capitalize on those great chances around the net that they haven't been in the past couple of games.

The Spirit twitter has posted the line combinations for tonight:
Brown-Gilmour-Bennett Clarke-Stephens-Hodgson Barwell-Felhaber-Coskey Davies-Kreis-Artemov (starting)
Petschenig-Crawford Niemelainen-Kaura (starting) Holmes- MAKSIMOV
Cormier starts in goal
Maksimov on D tonight? Stewart and Middleton both out. Yikes...

Middleton had a family issue tonight, which is why he's out.

10 minutes in and down 2-0 to a team that's lost 15 straight...

All 3 goals on horrendous turnovers. Not Cormier's fault but because they have no good backup there will be no change in goal.

I agree, Gilbert must go. It is unfortunate that the coach goes due to the many turnovers and lack of effort, but the players are not responding. Its time, Gilbert should be gone by the weekend.

Warm up the bus for Gilbert... But who will they hire? Easy to say get rid of him but you must have an alternative to go to.

Saginaw forces OT. Should never have gotten to this point.

Flint scores with about a minute to go in OT to win it 4-3. So when does Gilbert get the ax?

There's a game Friday in Guelph. Gotta happen tomorrow if it's going to.

A team that is supposed to compete for a title next season should not be fighting to hang on to the 8th and final spot to make the playoffs this season.

One team was win less in 15 games and the other is a mess.
