...but if Cameron doesn't even know if he's leaving, how can anyone else?? I think you need to read Cameron's post again. He never said he didn't know if he was leaving or not. What he said was..."there is nothing imminent about my status with the Spirit". That's a well worded statement that is neither an admission or a denial of his leaving. Using of the word "imminent" is the key word here. Meaning "ready to take place", it simply says he's not leaving anytime soon. That said, if the info is out there that he will be leaving say around Thanksgiving, then both statements would be true. The fact that he is leaving and the fact that it isn't imminent. I totally trust DJ on this one because I know who his source is. |

Back to the original topic--it isn't going to be Terry Doyle, who is the new Cogeco color man for the Sarnia Sting TV broadcasts, as he has announced in his loosepucks.com column.

Small note in the News today stating Cam Knowles will be doing play by play with either Holmes or Doyle doing color till December when he moves to NC where his wife has a new job. They want to hire someone to do both PR and radio by the time Cam leaves.

Thanks for clarifying this, IGive1. I had actually known about this since the end of July or so, but didn't want to say anything until it was made official. Cam has been a tremendous part of the Spirit organization in its first 5 1/2 years of existence, and will sorely be missed!

Wally Shaver actually went on to be the Flint Generals (IHL) broadcaster in the 1970s before as forementioned moving on to Alaska-Fairbanks. Bruce Pettit was the announcer for the Saginaw Generals in the mid 80s and then went on to Milwaukee to become the Admirals announcer. I believe he had some ties to the team because his dad was the owner or something. Could be wrong, been many years.

Well, we're less than a week away from the home and season opener and still no word on a broadcaster or if there will even be radio broadcasts?? Can anyone shed some light on this?? As I said earlier, I am going to be very disappointed if there are no radio broadcasts this season. How am I supposed to drum up any interest in the Shanghai Branch of the Saginaw Spirit Fan Club if we can't even follow the team on the radio over here  I'm not discounting your earlier post IGive1. I'm just wondering why there has been no announcement by the Spirit. They have always had some kind of announcement prior to past seasons regarding the radio broadcasts. |

It's going to be Cameron Knowles doing play-by-play on Joe FM. I can now relax and enjoy my weekend knowing I can follow the Spirit this season from Shanghai!!  |
