Not to be a jerk, but I am sort of sick of every thread being turned into a thread debating Fic's call of the games. I think we should leave that in the appropratie threads, there are plenty of them. I know, I am just as guilty as anyone else, since I did respond to it here. I think we should just keep it in the right threads that were all created for just this discussion. It's getting kind of old. Just my opinion.

The first Spirit goal was switched to T.J. Brodie, which is his first ever OHL goal. Ryan McDonough scores a powerplay goal to make it 3-1! Ahhh! I was racking my brain trying to figure out why the Spirit players went and got the puck after the goal. I was trying to figure out how this goal was a milestone for Zaborsky. The players must have known it was Brodie's goal right away. Congrats T.J.

Nice article in the Snooze. Among other things, Constantine gave credit to Brodie for his first goal of the season--true as far as it went, but you would think the team's beat writer would know it was the first of his career. And as I recall Spirit were 2/4 on the PP, not 4/4. Once again--why can't I have this job?!!!!

SF8, Did you read that in the paper or Mlive? My paper says " Brodie, in addition to getting his first-ever Ontario Hockey League goal, added an assist. "

"first of the season", "first of his career", are they not both correct statements?
I am the first to bash our not so favorite beat reporter, but this seems just a tad nick picky to me.

so the sales guy was right...the paper and mlive are different...that's how they got me to buy a subscription. Here's how I got their sales guy back though.
SaginawNews: "Oh, so you only read the online edition...hahaha"
DonJohnson: "Yes, it's the same, right?"
SaginawNews: "Of course {laughing}...by the way, did you know 'Gullible' isn't in the dictionary anymore?"
DonJohnson: {checking dictionary} "Gee, you're right, it isn't in here"
SaginawNews: "Let me see that"
DonJohnson: {laughing} "Moron"

Just a report on Jarram, our new "tough guy." Looks like, based on one game, that the reports on the NOOF were correct. His hits were weak, he is SLOW and his puck handling is terrible. Don't think he was quite what we were looking for.
On the other hand, Zaborsky did some fighting, although it wasn't official, he was MAD! I forget who the Erie player was, but Z took him right to the ground and held him there until a ref could get there. When they were in the box, Zaborsky was yelling at the Erie player trying to get him to fight when the penalty was up. When the let them on the ice, the Erie guy stayed in the box for an extra second to avoid Zaborsky. It was pretty funny.

I said it was correct as far as it went. The guy is the flippin' beat writer, for heaven's sake. Although I'll grant you he probably did well just to get "first of the season" correct. I don't think it's nit-picky, but I'm old-school; I still expect something out of journalism. But I'm dropping it, so we're cool.

I loved Zaborsky last night--he was yelling at the guy all the way to the box, after pushing his face into the ice behind the net. I think we've made a North American out of him!!!!! ;D ;D

Anytime one of our guys takes it to somebody like Zaborsky did the other night, they gain a lot of respect in my eyes. I'm now a bigger fan of Z than I used to be.

No need for Z to play the tough guy and take needless penalties. He is here to score goals. He does not scare anyone. I remember a game not too long ago, where the opposing team had a delayed penalty called and during the stoppage Z reaches around the linesman to punch a player in the face and ducks back behind the linesman. He got penalized for it and negated the Spirit power play. The Spirit were behind in that game at the time and ended up losing the game.
