They took their beating and were fine with it. No fire, no anger, just another day at the office. Their new tough guy plays with no edge, no presence and no one is afraid of him, but he did get 3rd star of the game. What a joke. Imagine if Saginaw had a lead like that in Sarnia, the game would still be going, if you know what I mean.
If they wanted to move up from 8th place, they have to get by Sarnia, well that does not look too promising right now. Hopefully, Owen Sound does not put a streak together and thank god Erie is awful.
Hey, let's start the wave!

Definitely the worst game I have witnessed since being a Spirit fan. You could tell right from the start it wasn't going to be pretty. Fugly! Anyone see or hear the one fan that let the refs have it when they were coming off the ice at the end of the second? They took him out but let him back in. He must have gotten a lecture.

Worst hockey game I have ever witnessed. We played horrible today. Pasquale didn't have any help in front of the net, but let in four very soft goals. Daniels wasn't much better. Plaketus was the only Spirit player who actually showed up to play, with Jarram a close second. Combs couldn't get a pass to anyone to save his life, and his shot was pretty bad too.
Just a terrible game, and I can't even blame it on the refs, because the penalties were more in our favor I think.
I can't believe I paid for me and my fiancee to go to this game...should have stayed home and watched the 23 hours of superbowl coverage instead.

I am on record as thinking the Super Bowl today will be the biggest beatdown in SB history. And now it may not even be the biggest beatdown of the day................

Just one of those games we have to quickly put behind us. Happens to everyone once in a while. It's just one game where everything that could have possibly went wrong for us did, and everything that could have went right for Sarnia did. Another tough game coming up this Friday against Guelph which I'll be making the road trip for, so hopefully we can bounce back.

...First time in my LIFE I have ever left a hockey game early. I left a UM vs North Dakota game at the Joe back in the early 90's, ND was up 6-0 at the end of 2 and it was the late game so I said to my dad, let's go, this game is over. Woke up the next morning to find out UM scored 6 unanswered in the 3rd and won 7-6 in OT. This is why I never leave a game early, but I did too, but not early enough, I hung around until the 10th Sting goal. Not sure what is going oh with this team. I was not impressed by their performance against Ottawa and really haven't been impressed (though they have won several) since the Christmas break. It seems like they are just going through the motions, it doesn't look to me like they have that passion at least as a team. Some players have it some nights, others have it every night, I just haven't seen the passion from all the players on a given night. They took the "box" on the PK literally and never moved out of it. Never attacked, just stood there watching the puck. Oh, and how does a Spirit player get a star in a game like this? Unbelievable! Maybe it's that curfew thing!

Only game I ever left early was back when the Wheels/Lumber Kings/Gears were still around. I don't remember what they were called at the time, but they were playing the Flint Generals in the playoffs and had home ice advantage. They lost Game 1...I believe the final score was 9-3 or something, but it could have (and probably should have been) a lot worse.

Sparky, you summed up exactly why I never leave--seen it too many times. But I stayed til Goal#9, and I decided that not even a huge line brawl would make it worth staying for more suffering....... I thought the same thing about Jarram, and God Bleess Him for his goal and assist. But it is an embarrassment to see anyone from the Spirit get a star in that game.

Hey, let's start the wave! lol Wasn't that the stupidest thing you ever heard? Were getting our azzes handed to us and they wanted to start the wave. Those of you who weren't there, they couldn't get it going. I wonder why?

Those of you who weren't there, they couldn't get it going. I wonder why? better then, than starting it with 20 seconds to go in the game the night before...everyone's headed for the exits doing the wave. BTW...it's my opinion that a wave should not be started with a person on a microphone...a "wave" is a spontaneous event typically started by a few energetic (or drunk) people and they scream as loud as they can to get their section and the one next to them to wave. You do it 3/4 times (with it not working) and then the next time you think it doesn't work and then the other side of the arena picks it up randomly and it starts it's way around to a big cheer. If you have to count section by section, like the lunchbox does, that's an "artificial wave".

I thought it was at the end of the game yesterday? I could be wrong, all I know was I wasn't in any mood to cheer at the time. When you're down by a goal or two that's one thing, when your getting your arse whipped it quite another. One thing about scores like that, you know you're going to see some fights.

Well believe it or not, this wasn't the worst Spirit game I have been to. Granted, it might be the worst at home, but not the worst I have seen. There have been more than a few games I would like to forget from past seasons. I can think of a 12-0 arss whoopin' at the hands of the London Knights on March 4th 2005. Saginaw was already down 7-0 after two periods when a friend of mine from London let me sit in his seat behind the Spirit goal for the 3rd period. The Spirit allowed 5 more goals that period. I was sitting next to the goal judge and I looked at him and asked "does your thumb ever get sore?". He just smiled and said "when that happens, I just switch hands".
Another more than forgettable memory comes from season one. The Spirit fan bus was to embark on it's first ever overnight trip to London and Erie. It was at the end of the season and there was going to be no post season games and it was happening on my birthday, so I said, what the heck. Well my birthday present that year was a 9-0 loss at the hands of the London Knights followed by a 4-0 shut out by Erie. This was made worse by the fact that Erie finished 9th in the conference to our 10th so it wasn't like we got beat by a far superior team.
Other notable big time losses:
11-26-2004 Kitchener 12 Spirit 2 in Kitchener 11-14-2003 Kitchener 7 Spirit 6 in OT. While that does not sound bad on paper you must keep in mind that Saginaw was ahead in that game 6-2 in the third period. Ouch!, Kitchener scores 5 unanswered goals for the win.
Yes, my friends, there have been many memorable, or should I say, forgettable losses in the past. There have also been many pretty unforgettable wins as well. Bottom line here is Sarnia only left town with 2 points. Saginaw took 4 of 6 points on the weekend against some pretty good teams. All things considered, that ain't bad. Peace.
