Other notable big time losses: 11-26-2004 Kitchener 12 Spirit 2 in Kitchener11-14-2003 Kitchener 7 Spirit 6 in OT. While that does not sound bad on paper you must keep in mind that Saginaw was ahead in that game 6-2 in the third period. Ouch!, Kitchener scores 5 unanswered goals for the win. Ahh, yes... I was in attendance for that one... It was Ryan Daniels first ever appearance in a Spirit uniform...

Yeah, the Spirit have played some ugly games, both home and away, in the past. BP -we were also at that 12-0 debacle in London that you mentioned. Fortunately, we were in a suite,, so the evening didn't cost us anything (except lost pride, because most everyone else there were Knight's fans).
BUT, the reverse is also true. IIRC, the next game we played at the JLC was opening night in 2006. On the way over to London, my wife and I wondered why we bothered going, given what happened just a few months before. Guess what - we beat the Knights 9-7 (I think that was the score). Granted the Knights were missing several key players who were still at NHL camps, but who cared? We still won. Went over to Kitchener a couple of weeks later and the boys beat the Rangers.
Point is, you never know what can happen (think yesterday's Super Bowl). A good friend asked me if we still planned to make the Guelph-Erie roadtrip this weekend, given how the team played (?) yesterday. My answer was an unequivocal YES! Wouldn't surprise me at all to see the Spirit get a win at the Sleeman Centre on Friday night.

One of the great things about teenaged boys is their lack of short term memory. (OK, that's one of the bad things, too!!) Horrible as yesterday was, by next weekend it will be prehistoric to the players. I might not be quite as optimistic as johnt, but I certainly don't expect next weekend to be affected by the results of Sunday's game. And let's hope Jack Combs comes back from the All-Star game on fire!!!

There is a book entitled "Hockey Tough - a winning mental game" that is, or at least should be, a bible for aspiring young hockey players. It is written by a leading sports psychologist who specializes in dealing with hockey players, all the way from kids thru NHL players. From what I've been told, this book is required reading for players on many OHL teams.
In the book, the author emphasizes time and again the need to have positive thoughts. If you have a bad shift or game - FORGET IT and move on. He stresses that if a player makes a mistake on the ice, he should have forgotten it by the time he reaches the bench at the end of his shift. Of course, he may be reminded of it by his coach. :-(
Hopefully, the Spirit players will follow this for Friday night's game against the Storm.

I think that game we won in London was 10-7...that was the game the Knights scored 7 powerplay goals, lol. I remember seeing the score on the 11:00 news that night and nearly spit out my pop wondering if either team decided to play any defense. Evidently they didn't
