I guess this now belongs under Spirit alumni--congratulations to Vince Trocheck on winning the OHL scoring championship on the final day of the season. It is making me ill reading the Whalers' fans comments on the NOOF....hey, guys, he did score a few of those points before he got to Plymouth. I can't wait til the playoffs are over, and I can remember Trocheck as a Spirit.

At the end of last year I said this: I'll throw out some final thoughts: 1) Trocheck will be the second Spirit player to score 100 points in season. Got it half right. He got 100+. He just didn't do it for Saginaw.

A couple of familiar names were suspended by the OHL today---Anthony Camara (Barrie) got 3 games for shooting the puck into the stands after play stopped (that suspension should be familiar to Spirit fans) and--this was kind of a surprise--Ryan O'Connor (also Barrie) 5 games for a check to the head. Bad news for Barrie, qlthough they should still be able to survive the first round....
EDIT: I'm going to back off on the O'C suspension until I see it in writing somewhere besides Twitter--even though it was a pretty reliable source.

Apparently Brandon Archibald is going to be a coach.
"My coaching career begins tomorrow with the Detroit Little Caesars AAA 2001 team. Will be in charge of shot blocking and active sticks."
That from Brandon off of twitter. Good luck Brandon.

His skates never left the ice, his arms/stick were down and he didn't really follow through. I think that's a pretty weak suspension.

New update: the same guy that said O'C was getting 5 games (Neate Sager) is now reporting that Ryan O'Connor is suspended for TEN GAMES as a result of the hit. This is a complete and total travesty.

Prediction: Golf will be the most popular sport in the world in 10 years because sports like Soccer, Hockey, NFL, etc. will be so much different that what people grew up loving (because of player safety) and golf will still be golf

Only one problem with that Don, my High School football coach told us that Golf wasn't a sport. Oh well, there's alway Cricket!

Nice article. Funny that Andrew Shaw---who is Jason Shaw's older brother--is his roomie.

Saad, probably my favorite Spirit player of all time. Sure wish he was playing for a different team. Hate the Blackhawks.

Wow, that sounds like a thread topic---"Favorite Spirit Player of All Time".
Saad isn't my all-time favorite, but he's in the top 3 Best All Time. He'd be #1 if I'd seen more than 1 great season from him (the other season with us, he was significantly slowed by injuries, and the other two, he didn't report). Jan Mursak and Vince Trocheck would round out the top 3. Saad is probably going to have by far the best NHL career of anyone we've had so far, but that's not what I judge on.
