I saw Jamie Oleksiak was recalled the other day by Dallas, as well. Nice scrap for Szwarz! Probably my favorite player from the past here! Looked like Jordan got in 1 pretty good upper cut about half way through the scrap. Speaking of uppercuts did anyone see the upper cut Brandon Prust landed on Cam Janssen the other nights in the Habs-Devils game? It was a doozy.

It's really sad to watch Cam Janssen in a fight nowadays...he was such a tough guy and he's just become a punching bag for the younger guys who keep getting stronger and stronger. Cam came in at a time when fights were quick and his advantage was (1) that he was tough as nails and (2) that his fight stamina was longer than everyone else. It was fun to watch him wave off the refs as the other guy tired and he was get all his punches in the second half of the fight. Now, some guy wails on him and then ties him up so the refs come in. I would guess this is Cam's last year making appearances in the NHL.

Wasn't Janssen the guy that swallowed his tongue while in a fight in the old IHL? IIRC, he almost died.

Attended the Wings' game last night primarily to get a chance to see TJ Brodie play. (The Wings' win was a big bonus!). TJ did not disappoint. I thought he played a very good game, especially as his assignment for the night was Datsyuk. Datsyuk got his points on assists, but TJ made him work, and made several fine defensive plays on him. He was in the box for the Wings' winning goal, pretty much through no fault of his own--a Flames' turnover in their zone left Datsyuk alone right in front of the net. (It was also an iffy call, as were many of the calls last night, although strictly by the book it was correct). As I walked in, I saw two Calgary jerseys, and as I got closer I could see they were Brodie jerseys. The two very nice people wearing them were TJ's proud grandparents. They said that his billet parents from Saginaw had also made the trip. We thought we were going to see Chris Breen play also, as he took warmups, but he must have been a last minute scratch. If I were using a hashtag here, it would be #onceaSpiritalwaysaSpirit.

Chris Breen may not have been a late scratch. It's not unusual for all visiting players to come out for warm ups. The last Red Wings game I went to was against Phoenix. Paul Bissonnette warmed up, but did not dress for the game.

Looks like Trocheck will be getting the call up to the Panthers this Friday. Didn't take him long. Less than one full season in the AHL before he made it to the big show.
@georgerichards "#FlaPanthers going young in front of Roberto Luongo. D-men Alex Petrovic likely coming up to replace Weaver; Vincent Trocheck up for Goc"
Congrats and good luck Vince!
