Garrett Ross played for Chicago tonight against the Wings. He even got a goal. I would be happier for him if it was for a different team. I is beyond me how any hockey fan of Saginaw hockey history cannot have the Chicago Blackhawks among their list of favorite NHL teams. Maybe it's just me, or perhaps you have to an older fan to fully appreciate the Black Hawks. Maybe it's because when Saginaw had the Blackhawks number one farm team and they sent all of their top prospects here to play at a time when the Dead Wings, er I mean Red Wings really sucked. Now granted, I am a fan of the game and as such I really don't hate any team, well Plymouth, but that's a given. But even with Plymouth I have gone to games there when the Spirit were not playing to see a former Spirit player play. I look forward to the day that Brandon Saad and Garret Ross suit up for the Blackhawks as they take on the Red Wings with Jake Paterson in goal in game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals. bpfox, you feel the same way I do...I've got a lot of friends in Chicago so it's nice to have a wings/hawks rivalry with them but I've always liked the Hawks jerseys, it was really cool to see guys like Eddie Belfour and others in Saginaw and now it's the same situation with Saad. I think I almost watched as many Chicago games as Wings last year because I wanted to follow Saad and they've also got a fun young team that was good to watch during the playoffs as well. Don't get me wrong, the wings are still my #1 team by a long shot but there's a lot to like about the hawks having grown up a Saginaw hockey fan.

I'm with fox & dj - I remember the days of the Saginaw Hawks, and became a Blackhawks fan (somewhat) at that time, although they have been & always will be a very distant favorite behind the Red Wings. But I LOVED watching former Saginaw Hawks playing for the Blackhawks (& vice versa). I LOVE watching Saad with Chicago. And I love the city of Chicago. If you ever get a chance to visit, it's really a great town. My wife & I go at least once a year, in October to celebrate our anniversary, as well as combine that with a business trip, & I have to say, short of hockey season, that's the #1 thing I look forward to all year! We have actually toyed with the idea of relocating to the Chicago area, but that's down the road a ways...

Sorry, guys. I didn't live in Saginaw in those wonderful days of yore. I love visiting Chicago and I have two sons who live there. But the Hawks are the team I like the least in the NHL. (OK, maybe the Penguins. too. And--speaking of history--the Avs) I, too, hope to see Saad and Ross do good things with the Hawks. But I'll be wanting the Hawks to lose. To each his own.

Cody Bass broke a thumb in last night's game with the BJs--out 4 to 6 weeks.

Jets assign Telegin to St Johns of AHL, he won't report so they suspend him. He is supposedly going to play in KHL. I hope his mom is still not following him all over the planet.

Chris Breen was called up by Calgary & may make his NHL debut tonight! That would be 2 ex-Spirit d-men playing for Calgary (along with T.J. Brodie, of course, who is in the top pairing).

Breen's first NHL fight...there must be some guests in the announcer booth, they are HILARIOUS!

QUESTION: "I wonder how that all started?"
ANSWER: "Hockey"
LOL!!! But seriously, Breen did pretty well. Other guy was throwing a lot but couldn't reach Breen half the time. Breen landed a couple real solid shots there. I know the home announcers & commedians have to call it like homers, but that fight was a draw.

Former Spirit d-man Ben Chiarot made his NHL debut for the Winnipeg Jets last night against Chicago. Unfortunately for him he was a -3 on the night.

Former Spirit player Dalton Prout, now of the Columbus Blue Jackets, had a pretty good tilt with Milan Lucic tonight. Over on one fighting site the fight was awarded to Prout by a WIDE margin. I'd call it a draw or slight nod toward Prout - handled himself very well!

I saw Jamie Oleksiak was recalled the other day by Dallas, as well.
Nice scrap for Szwarz! Probably my favorite player from the past here!
