I think this team deserves a truck load of credit for the way that they are playing. I do not think for a second that they were playing to get to OT. We did have some decent chances in the 3rd. Ryan Daniels continues to shine and things will turn for him and our/his luck will change for the better. I think that the reason we do not do well in OT is that the players we count on in the OT are gassed because we do not utilize our whole bench during the game. Think about it we use Mcd, Combs then Chappel and Zabo then back with Mcd ,Combs and so on. When the winner was scored our forwards did not get back to help simply because they were too tired.
How many shifts did Pachis play- one maybe 2, Taylor 3-4 and Nielly(sp?) 2-3!!!!
That is one full line that played 4 shifts at the most. You can't expect the other guys not to be tired if you don't use the whole bench.
Again great effort by the team and don't ever loese that never die attitude.
I'm sure that the Soo and Kitch will be watching the results if the game tomorrow hoping niether has to play the Spirit.
Good Luck tomorrow and in the playoffs.

Anyone know why Jarram was out tonight?

Overlooked in the shuffle somewhat is that Ryan Daniels has played his butt off the last two nights (3, if you count the Kitchener game) and has nothing to show for it except 3 "L"s. Although he was the 2nd star tonight, and you know that in the Soo, that means something. And he is gonna have to go out and play his butt off again tomorrow. Go get'em, Ryan.

I agree, the team does deserve a lot of credit for the way they are playing. during any other part of the season we all would have been pleased as punch to have them take three out of six points against the top three teams in the conference. To do it three games in a row is even more special. That said, you can't say they were not "playing for the point" in the game last night. Yes, they had some decent chances in the third period. They came for the most part in the first part of the third. When I say a team is "playing for the point", which most teams do in a close game on the road, is they lay back towards the later stages of the period. The closer it gets to the end of regulation the more it happens. Their "dump and chase" takes on a more "dump and lay back" approach. The Soo was doing the same thing. They knew they were better on the 4 on 4 than the Spirit. I think the Spirit felt if they could survive the OT period they were better in the shoot out. They have been under this pressure of each and every point counting huge for so long they just went into automatic mode. It's a hard thing to break out of because on any given day, that's what you should do in that situation. This is the second time in three seasons the Spirit have lost a game in overtime and had to watch the West Division Champions celebrate on the ice. I hope they can use that to bring one home for themselves next season. There is not doubt in my mind that next year will be a battle between Saginaw and Windsor for the division title. Let's hope the lessons learned this week, as well as in the playoffs, serve them well. Go Spirit.

Also all but overlooked last night--Ryan McDonough's goal set a new record for single season goals total. It was his 44th, breaking the record of 43 set by Tom Pyatt last year. Well done, Ryan, and congratulations on your excellent year. It has been a lot of fun to watch you once again play as you are capable of.
bp--I am impressed if you think we're going to be in Windsor's class next year!

bp--I am impressed if you think we're going to be in Windsor's class next year! The Spirit are in Windsor's class this year! Saginaw had 3 wins, 2 shootout losses and an OT loss to a 90+ point team. Should be more of the same next year!
