Sounds like a typical Saginaw/Soo game...we battle hard to the end but the Hounds squeeze out the victory once again. But overall I'm generally pleased with the effort...we never gave up, and this was the first taste of playoff hockey in a hostile environment for several of our players. Hopefully there's a victory for us in the Easter basket tomorrow! Sucks to be Plymouth right now...9-2 loss tonight, ouch! And Windsor is down 2 games to none after tonight...it must be the Greg Brady curse

And Windsor is down 2 games to none after tonight...it must be the Greg Brady curse Too bad Saginaw couldn't have gotten that 6th seed. I thought the Spirit's best chance to get to round 2 would be to play either Windsor or London in round 1.

Yeah, but think how close we came to 8th and getting the Kitchener beatdown..........
Windsor might have expended a lot of emotion and energy just getting to where they are now. They're not done yet, but definitely in a deep hole. And remember--this is a team that's built for next year. Like us, a lot of guys there have no playoff experience.

I didn't listen to the game last night, but by looking at the stat's I would say we hardly "battled hard to the end" 6 shots on goal in the 2nd period and 6 in the third? that's battling hard? The soo doubled our shots in both of those periods. Not to mention that the soo had only 4 PP's to our 7. We finally played a game a stayed out of the box and we still lost. We have been horribly out shot in many of the last 5-6 games, we need better puck control and more shots, especially on Gajewski, I'm surprised we got 4 of 26 past him. This team needs to put forth a lot more effort if they want to keep playing past next weekend. I'm not sure I'll make it tonight, family stuff, I hope they battle harder tonight.

Shots on goal is the most overrated stat in hockey. Doesn't account for the several open net misses we had by the sounds of it, or shots that went off the post (I think we had 1 or 2).

Speaking of the Windsor/Sarnia series...I just saw on the NOOF that Bradley Snetsinger got a 3 game suspension for a high sticking incident. If Sarnia goes on to win the series in 4 or 5 games, that'd be a crappy way to end his OHL career.

It would. But he would hardly be the first to end it that way. And given the number of times he has personally beaten us over the years......well, see ya, Brad. However, is the 3 games an automatic w/ the match penalty, or is this 3 games the league tacked on?? Because in the playoffs, teams can "buy back" certain suspensions, and I thought the automatics were among them. But I've seen at least 20 different definitions of what penalties can be bought back, so take that with a giant lump of salt.

Shots on goal is the most overrated stat in hockey. Doesn't account for the several open net misses we had by the sounds of it, or shots that went off the post (I think we had 1 or 2). I'm not trying to be an jerk here, but if you can't hit the net, you're likely not going to score. At this level you have to be able to drive the net and get the shot that is likely to score (on net) I do agree the stat can be misleading, for example, a very wise NHL scout once told me, if a goaltender does not have to move to make a save, the shot was a very poor shot (i.e. the player shot it right into the goaltender, not trying for an opening) I see our guys hitting the opponents goaltender in the chest A LOT! you can hope for a rebound, but if the goaltender is good he'll not let the rebound out. I get your point, but I still say 14, 6 and 6 is a poor outing any way you look at it.

Welcome to the forum ssmgreyhoundfan! Care to add any comments? It's always great to hear from "the other side". Thank you. This was a terrible game for defence men and goalies. Although Daniels made 38 + saves he was giving up a ton of rebounds. Juice was alright, he made a few really nice saves. Mcdonough was brilliant but the rest of the offense didn't really show up. The Hounds offense though was pretty good, as shown on the score sheet, a lot of "other" stars scored. Lalonde was a horse, and Caria definetly deserved 1st star. Now that game 2 was postponed, maybe, MAYBE! the Hounds lost some Momentum, and if the Spirit come out playing well, MAYBE! they can steal a win back here in the SOO.

I hope so but I'm a bit more pessimistic than that. We actually had a home game on a Saturday night during the playoffs and they couldn't even drop the puck. That really sucks! It sure would have been nice.
