Keep in mind that while Daniels is likely to be gone next season (and will be, IMO) it isn't a sure thing. If he did come back next year, not starting tomorrow night wouldn't set well with him, for sure. I still say he's been the guy all year and he deserves the start.

Combs showed up late to the hair dye party and ended up green...he still hasn't shown up for the playoffs and he's going to end up swept.
Pasquale starts tonight...he played great in limited action last night.
How about the smallest guy on the ice doing something to piss off the other team FINALLY...that should have been done after the 2nd goal. Where the hell was Jarram during all of this??? I'll tell you, he was actually on the ice during Murovich's run and instead of grabbing someone and sending a message, he was chatting with the goalie...our smallest, hardest working player is getting mugged by 3 guys, and he's telling the goalie to get an omelet at the Davenport Inn breakfast bar. Bottom line, we did not send a message last night and i predict an overtime loss tonight and a sweep for the soo.
Also, the "hug cam" was tremendous...it showed that these kids can still have some fun...of course, it's a lot more fun when you're up 2-0 and 5-1 in game 3...still, i clapped for it!

Is allicock hurt? We haven't seen him in a while and I think his size and physical presence would be of some help upfront against the soo. Kind of surprised we haven't seen him but yet we have Comrie and Ogilvy playing forward? I'm assuming he's hurt.

i don't think he is...i saw him last night and he didn't look hurt...i think he's just been a healthy scratch for the last month or more
edit: i would have loved to see him in there last night in place of Ogilvie

I'd like to see Allicock period. Why are they not giving this kid a chance?
Daniels was HORRIBLE last night. Should have been pulled after the third goal. NEVER should have started the second period. It wasn't all his fault, but the Soo have discovered that if they shoot it high, glove side, they score. Every time. If they can hit that GAPING hole, they get the goal. Daniels needs to fix that. He just didn't look like he wanted to be there.
You guys bashing Combs, where YOU been ALL SEASON??? To be truthful, he played the best game I've seen him play last night in about two months. He still didn't do anything, but he made less mistakes than normal.
McDonough did well last night. Chappell was the only one working the whole game. Zaborsky, good to see the goals but he was off last night too. I saw him make SEVERAL bad plays and he's been a lot more flawless lately. However, if it wasn't for him we would have had nothing last night, so gotta give him some credit.
The Underwood fight wasn't too bad. Glad to see the kid brawl.
Murovich was LUCKY that he got away from the Soo players as fast as he did. He deserved a beating for that move, and he was going to get it. I disagree with the statement that it was the right thing to do. I don't think you bowl the goalie over, that blatantly, no matter how much your team has sucked during the game. Fortunately there was no one around, and Juice had a little time to react. Murovich deserved what he got, (Five and game), and it's likely one of the only times you'll ever see me applaud a Spirit penalty.
Hopefully we can get the win tonight so we don't get swept. I don't see us having a chance in the series though. It's over. Hope they can prove me wrong.

If not hurt then I assume it's the numbers game again. allicock is the only 90 forward and wasn't a 1st or 2nd round pick. I don't know but would expect we'll probably see a lot more of him next season but still think he would be very effective in this series and would like to see him on the ice as well! Maybe tonight?

eric is right on re: Daniels' high glove side. It was particularly noticeable on Simmonds' goal. Beautiful wrist shot, but very obviously picking a spot and hitting it. I certainly agree we have had no toughness at all in this series, but running Juice was not what we needed. And Muro wasn't "lucky"--the official grabbed him by the jersey and literally dragged him to the box. Of course, I guess maybe that was lucky, now that I think of it. I didn't think Chappell played well--he was at least a presence in the first two games. I didn't think he did squat last night, either. I wouldn't call Pasquale "great" last night--2 goals on 15 shots--but again, I see your point if you want to start him. I disagree, though. Look for the Spirit to--finally--come out hard the first 10 minutes tonight. If we have not set a tone and aren't ahead by a goal or two at that point, kiss it good-bye. I'm not so much disappointed in this result--remember, we weren't supposed to be here, and the Soo is a pretty good team--but the lack of hard work and effort of the team overall is regrettable.

He still didn't do anything, but he made less mistakes than normal. eric - Combs was in the box for 14 out of the first 22 minutes of the game...his first shift out of the box in the 2nd period led to a Soo goal and he ended up (-2) on the night. Regular Season: 100pts (+27) Playoffs: 0pts (-3) If you think Combs played a good game last night, i think you had too many $2.50 beers.

I wouldn't call Pasquale great; last night--2 goals on 12 shots--but again, I see your point if you want to start him. I disagree, though. i agree, I probably should have used my ambiguous term of "solid" to describe him. The reason i thought he played well was that he was immediately tested on a number of tough saves and I was impressed that a young kid could come into that situation and play well. It doesn't matter to me which goalie plays tonight, i still think it's an OT loss though.

donjohnson, you're looking at numbers again. I didn't say Combs played well last night. He stunk. But compared to what I saw the last two months of the regular season, he did a pretty good job.
That early penalty when him and Godfrey both got 10 minutes, I told my fiancee "perfect. We get Godfrey off the ice for 10 minutes, and we get Combs off the ice for 10 as well. Best possible situation." haha.
The reason I said he played "better" was that at least when he passed the puck, he didn't put it right on a Soo player's stick like he's been doing lately. That's all I meant.

i agree, I probably should have used my ambiguous term of solid to describe him. well worded. eric-- I said the same thing last night (Godfrey + Combs in box=good for Spirit) I would not have thought it possible for Combs to disappear so completely this series, particularly as he has lit up Juice pretty well all season. Mark Constantine seems to think Pasquale should start tonight, which strengthens my case for Daniels

I'm tossed as to who to start tonight. I'd say we start Daniels, and pull him IMMEDIATELY if he doesn't perform. I mean, by goal two at the latest...I understand that this NEVER happens in hockey, but it's what I would propose.
I don't think Daniels was tired last night, I just think he needed a fire lit under him. Having Pasquale finish the game last night probably did it. I think he'll perform better tonight. So I suppose I'd start Daniels tonight.

I don't really want to say anything, except that I am totally disappointed in this series thus far. Not so much in the first two games, but this last one was not the best effort.
Where are our goal scorers...Combs? Simply put, our best players aren't being our best.
One thing I noticed about this team is when they are ahead they play hard, but when they are behind they seem to give up. It makes me pissed off because I know that they have more potential than this. What's the point of working all season to not try in the playoffs? Isn't that the point of playing all season? I hope they at least win tonight so they don't get swept.
Something I noticed tonight: Soo fans > Saginaw fans. No offense but our fans sucks. I was sitting by the Soo and they were insane beasts screaming their heads off every 2 minutes. I tried to get the crowd going several times and just got dirty looks shot my way. B O R I N G.

Our fans--noted and commented on by several Soo fans that I talked to.
Worse--person (adult male) sitting behind me, partway through second period, to friend: "So who are the Spirit playing tonight?"
I'll admit I didn't make much noise last night--I'm like bpfox--NOBODY tells me when to cheer, just make the plays or put the puck in the net--but at least the Spirithorn was in evidence a FEW times.
