I have been wanting to go down to Flint to see a game (& see Sturgeon in action), so I am getting tickets for Wednesday nights game vs. the Red Wings - I mean Motor City - JUST IN CASE the 2-4 Wings players dress for the game!
(EDIT: Reports are that the Wings players won't be playing Wednesday - they will play starting Friday. Oh well...)

Shouldn't this be in the UHL page?
I will NEVER...repeat NEVER give a nickel to anyone to watch scabs take jobs from other players. You shouldn't either.

I agree, let these bums sit. That could be 4 former Spirit not playing because these guys take their spot for a few weeks.

I have refused to wear or display any NHL licensed merchandise since the lockout began. The fans only form of protest is to not support them in any way, shape, or form. Well said jimdrw!!!

It is a joke!!! I agree with jimdrw......these guys are scabs and don't deserve our support. If McCarty was smart he wouldn't bother re-scheduling his appearance at a Spirit game. He might not like the reception he gets.

This subject got me going enough to register and reply. This is just another reason why I see no credibility in the UHL. Remember the 1990s Gears? The league allowed Dr. Shakairy (sp?), then owner of the Gears and Generals, to trade away players for nothing in return except a smaller payroll. The team finished off the last couple of months of the season with 11 skaters and just one goaltender. It's no wonder how they set the league record of the most consecutive losses. THEN, a year later, the league allowed the Ohio ownership group move the Gears out of town in the middle of the night, leaving thousands of dollars in unpaid bills. If I recall correctly, the team owners voted and approved this move the day before it happened. NOW, they're allowing a team to sign two and possibly as many as four Red Wings? How is that fair competition? ? I'll take the OHL any day over the UHL.

Hockey is hockey. If I can afford to go see it I will. Even if it's pee wee hockey. I just love the sport and am a true fan.

These players are in no way scabs! How can you call them that? They are NOT ALLOWED to play in the NHL right now, so why shouldn't they be able to play somewhere else? If my employer wouldn't let me come to work (& therefore not allow me to get a paycheck), are you telling me that I am a scab for going to work someplace else? Granted, this whole scenario w/the Wings players has nothing to do with earning a paycheck, but it's the same principal. For the record, I do not support either side in the whole NHL lockout. I could care less who wins or loses in their battle for the millions. I just want them to get it over with & get back to playing hockey.

They are TAKING jobs away from skill level appropriate players who make about $600/week and you say they aren't scabs? How are those displaced players going to find work this late in the season? Chelios and Hatcher should be ashamed of themselves for joining a hack league in the first place. Why haven't they joined an AHL team? Why not go overseas? Why not stay home and reap what you sow? They are selfish and want to stay at home and take another person's job.

If you were making $3 or $4 million per year, I would not feel sorry if you needed to take $600 paycheck away from a guy who needs to pay his rent and feed his kid. It is dispicable and should not be tolerated by true hockey fans like us.

Jimdrw, I have tried & tried to understand your reasoning on this board as well as the NOOF, but sometimes you make it really difficult.
What is with your "Holier-Than-Thou" attitude? You are not the be-all & end-all of hockey knowledge. There are a LOT of people who know as much, if not more, about the sport than you & you DAILY insult these people, as well as any hockey fan in general. If their opinion differs from yours, look out! Your opinion is the only one that is right - the only one that matters. It gets old really quick when no one is allowd to post THEIR opinion without you jumping down their throat. I do not just mean in this thread, but many, many threads on these 2 message boards.
I personally do not have a problem with you - I do have a problem with anyone who thinks that they are better than anyone else. Why not let everyone have their own opinions & let them like or dislike what they want without telling them what they should or should not do. Just let everyone have fun.

I agree with you totally SagGenFan. I wrote something similar to JimDrw on the NOOF and he didn't respond, not that I asked him too. He seems to have an opinion of himself much higher than he does of others. That tells me volumes about him. I certainly don't agree with everything I read here or on NOOF but I believe I have been pretty good about not attacking folks. Lets face it, in almost all discussions here it is only opinion, there is no right or wrong. Except this time......Jim, YOU ARE WRONG! How does the amount of money someone makes define them as a scab or not. These men are hockey players who are prevented from playing for there current employers, period. I know of NHL players in Europe playing for lesser teams, not for the $$$ but to keep their skills. Whether one is young and trying to imporve, old and scared to lose the touch/legs etc, or in the middle, how much they make does not make them a scab.

Did someone delete some of the posts? Because if they didn't, I don't understand where you are coming from SaginawGensFan. Please do not misundertand, I am not defending jimdrw or taking a position on either side of the arguement, but I don't undertand your bashing jim the way you did. Correct me if I am wrong. Jim made a statement based on his opinion of the whole NHL'ers in the UHL. Some posters agreed with him. SaginawGensFan then presented a different view. In doing so, invited a rebuttle from Jim. ("How can you call them that?") Jim then replies with a more detailed version of his reasoning. SaginawGensFan then jumps all over him for it. I cannot read into anything jim said that would have prompted this kind of response. It would seem to me "GensFan" that you are guilty of the very thing you accuse jim of. Having a variety of opinions is what makes these forums fun. Being respecful in your disagreement is not always easy to do, but is something that is worth working at. Peace!
