I am with BP here - I am getting tired of the stinking anti-Saginaw posts on here. Good Lord, maybe some of you should start up a new message board titled "Why I like to piss & moan about Saginaw hockey so much yet still consider myself a fan". Geez. You consider yourself FANS??? FANS are entitled to complain when the product from a win-loss perspective is sub-standard. I never said that fans are not allowed to complain about that. What I said was, I am sick of hearing it. That is the ONLY thing some people have posted on here - EVER! Negative stuff. It just gets old. I mean, like I said, say whatever you want (within the rules), but my Lord, how many times do we have to read the same negative post OVER & OVER? It seems like almost every thread hets hijacked & yurned into a "what's wrong with Saginaw hockey" thread. Again, I am all for saying what you feel, it's a free country. It just seems like so many complain all the time & then you never hear from them when things are going well. There are exceptions, of course. Also, to get even more direct about the quote above, yeah, I can see where you're coming from, & I can understand why FANS "complain when the product from a win-loss perspective is sub-standard" - BUT IT'S FREAKIN' AUGUST! They have not even played a game yet! Why not wait to bash the team & everyone associated to them until AFTER they start playing a few games to see if there really needed to be all the bashing in the first place. I don't know, like I said, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, that is fine. All I am saying is that the negativity is pretty much counter-productive to why this forum was created. We want to get people excited about Saginaw hockey yet all we read is how bad the team is, how bad management is, how bad ownership is, how they have made every mistake possible, etc. I guess I just always saw fans as supporting a team no matter what. Sure, if they are not happy with something you spout off & move on. We got some freaking dead & decaying horses around here that are about to become pulp from being beaten on for so long.

IGive and SSFan I was not there however my youngest kid had tryouts at Saginaw Bay last night and all the info I posted was taped to the boards there, someone must of forgotten to take it down. So weather or not Saad was there I can not confirm either way.
I'm guess the both Euros are signed because they were at rookie camp, but cannot confirm this..
SaginawGenFan, I feel your frustration however it the nature of the beast. I'm sure if you are a Michigan or Michigan State fan you have had every reason to bash you team and probably have. I know that if you are a Lions fan you have bashed them. I know that I have and I don't even invest any money in them as far as ticket sales go. If you had been a season ticket holder to the Lions, I think you would be ready to give up, or at least vent your frustrations with them. I think we all want to be positive about the future of the Spirit however I think it more difficult now then ever. I think they are getting close to losing alot of fans who have spent their money on them and feel that they could spend their money on a better investment.. Also what have the Spirit given us to feel positive about lately? Please dont take offense to this, it's just my thoughts on this whole situation.....

Also what have the Spirit given us to feel positive about lately? Please dont take offense to this, it's just my thoughts on this whole situation..... What a bunch of crap! Yes, you are entitled to your opinion, but give me a break. Why on earth would you think the Spirit are getting close to losing alot of fans? When you spend money on entertainment that is not an investment. It's entertainment. You don't invest money on beer, you buy beer, you drink beer and you enjoy it until the glass is empty. Unless you are Richard Garber or Craig Goslin you have not invested one cent of your money on this hockey team. Perhaps it's that attitute that prevents you from enjoying your experience. I simply do not understand where some of you folks are coming from. The Saginaw Spirit have done nothing but bring entertaining hockey to Saginaw for 6 years, now, all of a sudden, the 7th year is not going to be worth your investment. Please, do us all a favor and stay home. If the Spirit have fallen short in any area it's in the education of it's fan base on just what it is to have a Major Junior hockey team to follow. I have not only seen the Spirit play against all of the teams in the OHL but I have seen them play in all of the OHL cities. In my travels I have met and become friends with Major Junior hockey fans from all over. I'm talking folks who have followed the OHL for years. I have never enjoyed the game more. The value of this team cannot be measured by wins and losses or points or playoff spots or playoff wins. It's bigger than all of that. Here's a little test. How may of you folks are disappointed that Ryan McDonough won't be back this year? If you are, then shame on you. You should be happy because Ryan made it to another level. That is to be cheered not frowned upon. That's Junior hockey. That's why these kids play here in the first place. I know we all like to think of ourselves as experts but in reality, we don't know squat. We represent such a small percentage of Spirit fans if we all didn't go to another game it wouldn't even show up in the stats. In the last 24 hours there have only been 18 members who have logged on to this site. That isn't even enough to get a group rate discount at a Spirit game. What have the Spirit given me lately to be excited about? That's easy, they are in town and they are putting a new team together and I can't wait to get a peak at that new team on Friday. Am I freeking out because Brandon Saad is not in camp, not at all because I know it's his loss and not mine. What have they given me? How about dollar for dollar the best entertainment I could ever buy. Nothing else even comes close.

"Unless you are Richard Garber or Craig Goslin you have not invested one cent of your money on this hockey team."
Less true words have never been typed. But Richard & Craig appreciate your sentiment. How insulting. People's entertainment dollars have dwindled, gas is more expensive, food is more expensive. So people WILL be cutting back and they already are.
Why don't you GUARANTEE me that attendance will be higher this year than it was either of the last 2 years? Oh, ok. Not so sure? I understand.
I love the product and love the league, but I dumped my season tickets after the 2006-07 season, because I figured I would go 15-16 times instead of 30-34. And if this team is as good as I think it's going to be, clawing tooth and nail just to make the playoffs, then I'll go 10-12 times. I can buy the entire NHL package on DirecTV or watch more OHL games online for the cost it takes for me to take my family of four there 5 times. Sorry -- but that's money they lose at the gate, and I'm one of hundreds who has scaled back when it comes to Saginaw Spirit hockey.
I have no complaints about the "investment" I made. By the way, this was also in your post.
"The Saginaw Spirit have done nothing but bring entertaining hockey to Saginaw for 6 years, now, all of a sudden, the 7th year is not going to be worth your investment."
So you say we're not investing, now we are. It's a contradiction in terms. Anything one spends money on is considered an investment. If I send my kid to hockey school and spend 2 grand, that's something I'm investing in. I expect to see a return. Really, I'm not going to say I think you're smarter than that, BP. I KNOW you are. And I'm very pleased for Ryan McDonough. More pleased for him than Don Edwards is, I can tell you that.
But your post was an all-out assault on those who are being objective and wishing we could be more positive about what I see on and off the ice with this team. But the days of it being a "novelty" have long worn off. It's awesome we have a franchise in our area. It's not so awesome that the team has provided very few landmark or "special" moments in six years on the ice. Yes, you can pick out a few. But a few is not enough over the course of playing almost 440 games counting the playoffs. No division titles. Two playoff wins. It's not good enough. Not in a league where 80 percent of teams make the playoffs.
Not even close. As a customer, I'm allowed to ask for more.

Not even close. As a customer, I'm allowed to ask for more. Wrong...as a customer, you have the choice to go or not go. If you were a customer at a restaurant and ordered Chicken Parmesan and got one breast of chicken and want more, you have a choice...you can pay more for additional or you can go to another restaurant with bigger portions. I don't know why people always care about the team losing money at the gate...Richard Garber didn't bring the team here to make money, he did it as a service to the community and to give us an entertainment (there's that word again) option. Sure, he'd like to make money but in the grand scheme of things, he's not going to end up in the poor house if the team loses year to year. That's why all of us have a choice on what to spend our money on. If you would like to stay home and watch NHL CenterIce, that's fine, if you'd like to buy only 1 season ticket instead of 2, fine as well. on a personal note (which i don't often do) i am most likely going to scale back my advertising at the arena (to perhaps none) which will definitely hurt the team. However, that is the "investment" side of the team. The "entertainment" side is that I am still going to go to as many games as i can, hang out with my peers, and consume a few icy cold bud lights. That is how I choose to take advantage of a wonderful entertainment option right here 10min from my home. You see, it is up to us as individuals, to make a choice on what we do with our time and money. Too often lately, this board has been a haven of negativity and it seems like a battle of good vs. evil. I do not need the help of any of you on here to form an opinion of management or the team. I do need you for insights about potential acquisitions/trades and that is what most of these threads began as. It is one thing to blast the team about a bad game or a bad trade (WHEN IT HAPPENS) but to constantly repeat the same arguments over and over is just asinine. My advice...when things go bad ,do what most normal sports fans do...blame the refs!
