Well that time of year again folks. Not sure what to expect from the team this year, but I know Coach Watson will have the boys working hard every shift and that's really all I can ask for. Hopefully a decent crowd tonight. I won't be able to make it, but hopefully on Saturday I'll be there. Let's go Spirit!!!

I'm think they'll come out strong after last year's playoff run. Not too shabby, but always room for improvement. London is going to be tough, so it should be a good game. I'll be there on Saturday to see them try to take down the Spits.

Don't you have to win a game to be part of the playoff run? haha, just kidding.
I WILL be there tonight to cheer on the boys, and I'll be happy as long as they play hard every shift. It would be good to start the season off with a win. The early season games are always interesting because the team will have a very different look tonight than it will once all the deals and trades and everything are done. It's always fun to get a first look at what we have this year.
Go Spirit!

Don't you have to win a game to be part of the playoff run? haha, just kidding. Actually, that's a true statement. The Spirit could lose every game this season and still make the playoffs. Wins are still better. ;D ;D

Not sure if anyone else caught this..
On WNEM 5 news Scot Johnson was talking with Craig Goslin about the season and opening night. Goslin made comment about "Here today, NHL Tomorrow" he then went on to mention that Comrie was drafted and away for tonights game as well as Nick Crawford being drafted by the Nashville Predators...It really disappoints me that a teams management can't even get the correct team name of who drafted its 3 players this year. Now if a large number of players got drafted I could see where it would be hard to remember, but lets be honest nearly every one of us on here knows that Crawford was drafted by Buffalo...

truthfully, i didn't know that and i'm on here nearly every day...i knew he was drafted but didn't really know the team...i'm sure Goslin just had a slip of the tongue. He's a professional but anyone can get nervous and say the wrong thing when you've got a camera in your face. Think about how often someone on here says the wrong thing and we've got a "preview" button. Oh well...prediction

Boy, 4-1 now. For a team that "can't score", I'm glad I came here all summer for accurate information on the team!

Saginaw leads 5-2 after 2 periods. Murovich has 2 goals. Tront scored on the PP late in the 2nd period to re-establish the 3 goal lead.

London definitely tried to goon it up. Fight recaps:
(1) Szwarz v. Hunter - delayed penalty on Saginaw then a hit by Szwarz. Hunter rushed in. Szwarz landed a few small punches but not much of a fight.
(2) Brodie v. Wilson - jump job by Wilson. Brodie just really clutched but did land one good punch. Decision to Wilson. McDonough tried to jump in but was hog-tied by another Knight.
(3) Sol v. Smith - questionable hit by Sol and Smith retaliated. Neither player got much in. Draw but not much of a fight.
(4) Allicock v. Hunter - carryover from last year. Both agreed. Not many punches landed but slight decision to Hunter.
(5) McDonough v. Martin - really didn't see what started this one. Not much of a fight. Some punching by McDonough, and he gets the decision.
(6) Breen v. Smith - Breen challenged for Brodie incident and hit on Szwarz. Smith wanted no part. Smith changed mind and challenged Breen. BREEN SMOKED HIM BIG TIME. Major league beat down.
After that fight, refs went benches and warned to stop. This was all on London. They were getting outplayed badly and evidently figured they would try to send a message. I would venture to say that it didn't quite work out like they had hoped.
Spirit came out a little tentative, especially the new defensemen. But they settled down and really outplayed the Knights quite badly. The Spirit forwards were skating around the Knights players like they were standing still. Really nice setups on both Murovich goals (from Szwarz and Pleckaitis). Pasquale played a good game, with both London goals being on breakaways. The first was a PP goal where the Spirit left player wide open in slot with nobody between Pasquale and Knight. Second goal was a breakaway from center ice from the benches side.
The Spirit played well. They were the better team tonight. But, Saturday night is a different day and opponent. We'll see how it goes, but many more positives than negatives.

I was there as well and actually there were 7 fights he missed the murovich fight also a draw mostly a hugfest. Sorry this was actually called as matching roughs, my bad. This was the team I was expecting to see good offense, good defense, good goaltending, and this team will not take any crap this year. great to see.
by the way don't expect to hear from newguy until something negative happens. just an observation.
