(whiny voice) This is, like, so UNFAIR!! Why do we have to play the Hounds AGAIN, ALREADY? Game analysis: I don't believe anything has changed since our first two games. Except the Soo has more wins (and, finally, a loss, albeit in OT). Spirit have shown a definite capability to play with the best, but so far have not shown the capability to win those close games. Given that this one is in the Soo, I'm guessing about 5-2 Hounds. Godfrey with his usual two goals against us............

You had me confused.... The Spirit are at the Soo tonight. I would have been suprised if the HUGE concert that's going on at the Dow would have been in the Heritage Theatre. Downtown Saginaw's going to be packed tonight.
Anyway, I think the Spirit are due for a win against these guys. 5-4 Spirit in OT.

I'll say 4-3 in regulation, Spirit with the win. I agree Saginaw is due for a win against the Hound-Puppies, but I think it'll only be by a point.

Found this story in the Soo paper today....
BEWARE OF SPIRIT SAYS HARTSBURG
Posted By Peter Ruicci By Peter Ruicci
THE SAULT STAR
They may have lost the likes of Tom Pyatt, Ryan O’Marra, Patrick McNeill, Cody Bass and Tyler Haskins to graduation.
But Craig Hartsburg thinks this year’s Saginaw Spirit might have more going for it than the 2006-2007 edition.
The reason?
The Soo Greyhounds head coach credits Saginaw’s new bench boss, Todd Watson.
Hartsburg and Watson, who had been an assistant coach with the Plymouth Whalers before replacing the fired Bob Mancini in Saginaw, match wits for the third time this season when the Hounds and Spirit square off tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Steelback Centre.
The Soo was a 7-5 winner in Saginaw in the regular season opener, before edging the Spirit 5-4 in overtime, Sept. 28 here.
“A lot of fans and people in the media thought Saginaw would drop off,” said Hartsburg, whose club has yet to lose in regulation, sporting an Ontario Hockey League-best 8-0-1-0 mark. “But that’s a good team. In some ways, they’re a better team than last year. And a lot of it has to do with the coach.”
The Hounds skipper said Watson “has done a great job changing the culture of the team.”
Hartsburg also sees similarities between Saginaw’s newfound approach and the way in which the Whalers play the game. “Saginaw plays a lot harder, and more as a team,” Hartsburg said. “They work extremely hard, they play hard every shift and play an up-tempo game.”
Despite the fact the Spirit has just a 2-2-2-1 record, Hounds co-captain Dustin Jeffrey holds his club’s West Division rival in high regard.
“I think they’re really underrated,” said Jeffrey, who has five goals and nine assists in just six games to date. “They had a lot of guys coming back this season who’re good.”
After beating the Spirit in six games in the first round of last year’s playoffs, Greyhounds defenceman Tyler Cuthbert says there’s little doubt a strong rivalry has developed.
“We know every game against them will be tough,” Cuthbert said.
And having lost to the Hounds a year ago, Cuthbert believes, is something Saginaw’s returning players dwell on.
“We know what it’s been like for us against other teams. It’s something to get you motivated,” the overage defenceman said. “I believe that’s how they’re approaching it.”
“There’s not a night we can’t be ready now,” said Hartsburg, when asked about how other teams respond when playing a hot club, such as the Greyhounds. “We’ve talked to the boys about being prepared and being focused.”
Notes: Overage Kyle Gajewski is expected to get the start in goal for the ninth time in 10 games tonight. Hartsburg said he hasn’t decided when rookie Bryce O’Hagan, who made his debut last Friday in Kingston, would start again.
Following tonight’s contest, the Soo entertains Plymouth, Sunday at 7 p.m. at Steelback Centre.

Personally I'd rather get all of our games against the Soo out of the way earlier so we don't have to worry about them as much down the stretch.
Pretty good article there, and I do agree with it. Honestly in some ways I think this team may be better than last year's, because last year I often had the sense that we tried to win on talent alone, rather than based on hard work. On paper we were probably the most talented team in the league, but it all depends on the on-ice performances. We had flashes of briallinace and what could have been (beating Plymouth on the road 6-2 and beating Guelph on the road 7-2), but we just couldn't get it together come crunch time.
As for tonight's game...we are due for a win, but I'm not sure if it's going to happen against a very good Soo team and in a packed house of wild Hounds fans. If we get a point I'll be happy. Go Spirit!

Ouch. There are a couple of shots to the gut. Hartsburg certainly didn't like SOMEBODY--whether coaches or players--on last year's team............
spiritfan75--now I'M confused. I picked the Soo because they were at home--why did you think they were in Saginaw?
We'll beat them this year. But not tonight; my earlier prediction stands. But if I'm wrong I'm a happy camper! One comment--if we shut Godfrey down, we win.

Do you think maybe the confusion comes from the fact that you titled this thread "Soo @ Spirit" instead of "Spirit @ Soo"? Me thinks so. Peace.
