Tonight our boys welcome the Barrie Colts into the Dow Event Center. We are fresh off a 5-1 loss to Sault Ste Marie last night, and Barrie is off a 4-2 loss against Sarnia. Barrie is 4-5-0-0 on the season, we are 2-3-2-1.
Not sure how we will match up against this team, what do you guys think? Does Daniels get the start tonight? What are your predictions? I think we win tonight, because my girlfriend will be there, and so far she's brought us good luck in our two home victories. haha.

Saginaw wins it 5-4 in OT...Adam Comrie nets the game winner. I'll gladly take the win, but we've got to learn how to finish...
Final shots were 42-18 in favor of Saginaw.
Saginaw will have a 3 game Eastern road trip this weekend against Peterborough (Thursday), Kingston (Friday), and Ottawa (Sunday).

Jack Combsd was the first star tonight, but he also took the very bad penalty that set up the 5 on 3 yileding the 3rd and 4th goals. Part of finishing is definitely not taking bad penalties. And speaking of stars--Marcinkov had a hat trick and assisted on the tying goal and he WASN'T a star, but three Spirit were??? I mean, if we're going to be homers, let's disguise it a little better than that!!!! I honestly can't comment on a single Colts' goal. The first one was before I got there, and the next three were at the other end of the ice and I couldn't get a good view of any of them. Jan Musak's goal was a thing of beauty. The goalie cheated just a tad for a pass, and Jan absolutely lasered it top corner. Combs scored his 9th and 10th goals tonight. This is what he was on his way to last year when he got hurt--STAY HEALTHY, JACK!!! I continue to be impressed w/ Ryan McDonough. He is playing major minutes, in all situations, with an A which he's never had before, and he looks terrific. A lot of hard work to go with his speed and shooting ability, and a noticable improvement in his own zone. Comrie's shot never looks that good or that hard. But I've seen it go in several times now (counting preseason here) so he must be doing something right. Huge game-winner w/ 1 second left on the 4 on 3 in OT. No more home games for 2 weeks. Not sure if I can handle it............
EDIT--My bad for believing Knowles and Holmes on the postgame. Combs' 4th and 5th goal of the season. Still off to a great start, Jack!

What happened to the team trainer? I don't recall seeing one on the bench tonight. I heard in the Soo they had to use the Soo's trainer since they currently don't have one. That is something you have to find room in the budget it for.
Also, Todd Watson has to get better in dealing with the media. He is a terrible interview. If he wants to move up, he has to do much better than he currently is in dealing with the media. If he is not going to give anything but 2 sentence answers why even have the coach's show or even go into the Blue Line Club before the game?

I got home from the rink and checked the OHL site to see if the announcement of Marcinko not getting a star was official.... I guess it was a glaring omission!
As for Watson and his media prowess, kudos to him. We go from one extreme to another were Watson will give nothing away.
Watson is a Coach - plain and simple - not the PR department.

I think the trainer we had took a job in Las Vegas. I'm not sure exactly what for, but I guess it was one of those "job opportunity of a lifetime" kinda thing that he had to take. Correct me if I'm wrong...

decent game. comrie seems like he has alot of potential. needs alot of work but the tools to be great are there. im also impressed with breen. last year he had a wrist injury for a while so he really couldnt find his game. now he is showing people he is a force on defense and he isnt afraid to drop the gloves as he had a great fight with clouthier which i give the win to breen. slight edge anyhow. that is by no means me being a homer because i liked andrew and was sad when he was traded.

Correct me if I'm wrong... You are correct. (cirque de soleil, to be exact) But if we really haven't hired a trainer yet, that is inexcusable. Watson is definitely not the media guy Mancini was. And Knowles is not the set-up man Brady was either. It would be nice if his answers were a little more gracious. If the team plays well, he can sit in the Blue Line Club and drool for all I care. I realize, however, that a hardcore fan such as myself might not be the audience team mgmt is trying to win over......... PS--If you think back to Mancini's interviews: while he gave them with a great deal of polish, terrific one-lines, and he excelled at talking to a crowd----he never told us anything more than Watson is telling us with his 2 sentence answers.

The deal with the trainer is simple. The New GM,Don "Loser" Edwards has interviewed 8 people. He has low balled everyone. One person interviewed twice. No luck. No one wants the job cause of several reasons. The main one being who wants to work where there's changes made every year. 5 coaches,3 GM's and 2 Trainers. Who wants to commit to that. Good luck,Brian. I heard he got the ,"Job of a Life Time". He is missed by the team and the OHL. From what I hear, he was a Very organized Trainer. He was loved by everyone. As of now, no trainer on board. That's a sad situation for the players.
