Since I was asked by the Spirit to sing the anthems at the last home game. (yes it was a serious request) It is clear the Spirit have no standards when it comes to anthem singers. While I do think I would have done better than Mayor Ham or that one guy they had that looked like he has just stumbled out of a bar, I turned them down and that's why we just had the music without a singer. You can thank me later.

Liked the Pastujov pick in the fourth. That'll be a two year wait though before we see if he reports. I believe him and Larionov played on the same team. (If not this year, then in the near past). Could be a way to get Pastujov to report if Larionov comes along.
Don't know how good his kid is, but possibly having Igor Larionov and his daughter at Spirit games certainly wouldn't hurt the chances of selling tickets.

Pastujov and Larionov both played for Detroit Honeybaked, along with several other players that were drafted. Several are USNTDP commits, so they won't be showing up in the OHL for awhile yet, as there is a significant financial penalty for backing out on a commit to that program once enrolled. (As an aside, I think we can count on seeing Max Cook eventually in the OHL, since London took him with their first round pick. Perhaps they learned a lesson with the Max Domi trade/draft). Pastujov is a definite "maybe", as I can't find anywhere that he has committed verbally to an NCAA program. Larionov has been injured most of the last two seasons, so the jury is out on him. But is there anyone on here that doesn't think he was worth a late round pick? (Even if for the reasons mentioned by certain male Spirit fans above....

One of my favorite scouts that covers the OHL Draft, Brendan Ross (@rossyyoungblood on twitter if you want to follow him) had Pastujov and Felhaber rated as his 3rd and 4th rated forwards in the draft. He had Murdaca (we took in the 10th round) rated his 6th best Goalie. He had Felhaber listed as his number one forward he expects to have the longest and most successful OHL career and Keaton Middleton (our 3rd rounder) rated the same way as a dman.
Needless to say I think we had a strong draft.

Saginaw has signed third round pick Keaton Middleton according to their twitter account. Probably see him down in the OJHL like Marcus Crawford this past season and then in full time in 2015-16.

London just signed 5 free agents including Petr Kilma's twin sons. Yes, we can compete with London.

London just signed 5 free agents including Petr Kilma's twin sons. Yes, we can compete with London. When it comes to London, it's best to just let it go. They have an advantage that most of the teams in the OHL are just never going to have. I guess it's a good thing the Spirit are in the West Division and not the Mid-West Division. The Spirit can and will compete with the other West Division Teams.

Something to watch in the coming days is if Jesse Graham signs a contract with the New York Islanders or Cody Payne signs with the Dallas Stars. Both have until June 1st to be signed by their NHL teams or they re-enter the 2014 NHL Draft.
