Whatever changed his and his family's mind, props to the Spirit organization for getting this done. The season just became a lot more interesting.

Those of you on here who thought it was good news if he did not sign, is it bad news he did?

I barely understand Thefacebook, which I think is a thing where ivy league types chit chat to one another about how they are all better than the rest of us. DiscoStu...you're way behind, TheFacebook isn't just for ivy leaguers anymore, it's open to most college kids now but you have to have a .edu email address to sign up. I'd be surprised if it makes it mainstream since who cares about other people's vacation photos or pictures of their cat. Hey look everyone, my hook has a fish on it! Where did I put my net?

What I found was exactly one poster who said that they thought him not reporting was a good idea. Others were just pointing out that if he didn't report, it wouldn't be the worst thing because the team had options. As a result of my investigation I can only come to one conclusion; This is a dumb question.

And you were worried that he was going to refuse to report! Good signing for the Spirit. I wish I could say the same for the Knights (signing OUR first round pick). However, I cannot....yet. KnightHawk

I find it interesting that the roster on the Spirit website, which has been updated periodically, does not include any overage players. Also, I noticed that they have added Daniel De Sousa to the roster. He was not on there until today, 8/23. Given the rumors of him leaving the organization, maybe he has had a change of heart and hopefully attitude. Personally I think he can bring something to the D corps.
My excitement level for the season changed dramatically when the news broke that Tye Felhaber would be joining the team. While I believe the Spirit will struggle to make the playoffs, the young players on this team are going to be very exciting to watch. The future looks extremely bright!!!!

I wouldn't worry too much about the current roster listed on the Spirit page. It's a whole new format and is most likely a "work in progress". You will also notice there is nobody listed under the "coach" section either.

Roster for training camp can be found here. www.mlive.com/spirit/index.ssf/2014/08/saginaw_spirit_invite_37_playe.htmlLooks like Ringuette, Callaghan, and Carins will be OA's this year. Most likely subject to change. Probably for the best that we carry two on defense with as young as that crew is. Interesting Subban is back. Probably just a camp body but I liked his shot and willingness to hit when he was here. Most excited to see if they play Artemov with Felhaber. They both sound like dynamic offensive players. Could create some excitement

Some thoughts from the scrimmage tonight:
-Moutrey was in a bad mood. He absolutely leveled Sadowy with a clean hit and then ran Boyko over later. He could seriously eat up minutes in the offensive zone as a possession player.
-Sadowy showed some nice handles that he didn't have last year. Also seems like he is a step faster than last year.
-Speaking of fast, you don't want Stephens to get a first step on you. Great acceleration as usual.
-Thought Murdaca was solid in net. Pretty good positioning and decent rebound control. Made one nice highlight reel save.
-Best two lines of the game were the lines of Felhaber/Moutrey/Clarke and Brown/Bennett/Martan. Bennett and Martin especially stood out to me. Bennett was flying all over the ice. Played good D, crashed the net, and just kept up a high pace through out. Martan showed some good speed and put it to use on a well placed goal and then to help set up Bennett's goal.
-Just real quick, some other stand outs to me were Danner, Rajic, and Eremita

According to Twitter, goaltender Joseph Murdaca has signed with the Spirit. Murdaca was drafted by the Spirit 190th overall in 2014. He played for the Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs.
I wonder if this was a direct result of how poorly it seemed Ovsjannikov played during the scrimmages?
