It’s that time of the season where things heat up trade wise leading up to the trade deadline. The OA trade deadline is Thursday, January 9th. The trade deadline for all other players is Friday, January 10th. Trades involving World Junior tournament players can not be announced until after the player’s team is eliminated from the tournament. When posting in this thread please indicate whether your trade news is confirmed or unconfirmed.

This is not about a specific player but I think we need to add (1) forward, (1) defenseman and hope that we have enough in goal to make a run (I'm not sure we do). I don't think we need to add 2 forwards like last year (Tippet and McLeod) because we'll be getting Jenkins back from injury at some point and that's like getting a free agent because we've been winning without him now.
I am not concerned about mortgaging the future because I think that Perfetti will be back next year (meaning he won't make the NHL right away) and I think that we should trade him next year to a contender for picks and or prospects.
Here are some moves that I think could happen for Saginaw:
Jan Jenik (Hamilton) for Bulovs (or Mancini) and picks. This is complicated because of his injury at World Jr's but we have the Import spot open and would be a huge pickup for us.
I also like Brock Otten's prediction of Akil Thomas coming here and I'd trade Bulovs, Mancini or Punnett plus picks for him.
Tyler Tucker (Barrie) for Punnett and picks. This is the defenseman that we badly need and it's worth giving up a good defenseman like Punnett to get him. I hate getting rid of guys like Punnett and Penman because they're good stay at home players but this guy is a difference maker hopefully like Murray was last year.

Jenik is done for the season that's not an option anymore. Also can't trade Mancini this year as he is a 2019 non first round pick. Our real assets are Punnett Bulovs Picks (6 2nds, 3 3rd, 4 4ths) And maybe Cardwell if we're really in the mood to add. Although him, Codd, Bloom, Mancini, Smith are a decent set 2 years down the road so try and keep him if we can. Plenty there to try for a Pekar/Tucker combo and maybe a depth player too.

Also can't trade Mancini this year as he is a 2019 non first round pick. Good point but we could always do one of those two part trades where we keep the player this year and trade them in the off-season... I know those are at least frowned upon but I don't know if there's a way to police a handshake deal.

Obviously way too early to think about, but this is what I think will happen, too. A certain team in the East seems to be aiming for a Memorial Cup run next year. I'm still holding out hope Bode Wilde comes back. 1 assist in 10 games in the AHL, and I think he's been a healthy scratch a time or two. Who knows.

I would love Bode Wilde to come back but earlier this week New York Islanders defenseman Adam Pelech hurt his achilles tendon and is out for the season. The Islanders called up Sebastian Aho, a defenseman from Bridgeport, which I would assume would mean more playing time for Bode Wilde in Bridgeport.

Lots of trade action today in the QMJHL. All quiet on the OHL front....so far! Don’t know about the Dub.

Erie has acquired right winger Kyen Sopa and a 13th round pick in 2022 from Niagara for 2022 2nd round and 8th round pick, and a 2023 3rd round pick (Soo).

Tucker off the board. He's heading to Flint along with Riley Pircey for Evan Veirling and picks.
Other Dmen that could be targets:
Nico Gross Giovani Vallati Jacob LeGurrier

That’s a good return for Flint for a (talented) kid that demanded a trade and went home. Not good news for the Spirit.

Haven't seen this trade officially announced anywhere yet (although Joey did mention it on the radio this morning). Wonder if it will happen in time for our game tomorrow against Flint.

Will Saginaw or Windsor make a trade in response to the Flint trade? Not even any speculation on either team being involved in anything from our good buddy OHL Insiders.
