Has anyone seen him play? Hasn’t really done much points wise from what I can tell and was mid round pick in OHL and late round pick in USHL.
Is he expected to be a third line centre or what ??

Probably 2nd line center with Jenkins being gone. Will be between him and Baber I would guess. He was top 10 in rookie scoring in the USHL and played on the 2nd best club in the USHL after the powerhouse Steel. Havent seen him play but from what I read he is a good two way player, skates well, and is like a dog on a bone with the puck. Sounds alot like Busdeker imo. Cant go wrong if they get even 75% of Busdeker out of him. |

He's able to play his off wing and has the wheels and shot to keep up with those two. Never know too what could happen with 2 picks in the import draft. We have the ultimate pitch for a stud import. Hey want to score 40 in your draft year playing with Cole and Ryan? I think alot of guys might be down for that. |

Maybe Carter Mazur could play that wing. Dont think we will be seeing Mazur here in Saginaw. I searched his name to find his stats. One of the pages that came up was his senior pictures with his MSU stuff. Think hes safely committed for now. Lots of other options at RW though lol |

I loved Carter Mazur when I first saw him, but he was so small. I keep saying that the guy who should anchor that line should be BIG, STRONG and VICIOUS. A protector for the other two, a beast in front of the net and in the corners. Oh, there I go again in describing Max Jones... or any player who can fit that mold.

The CHL Import Draft is scheduled for Tuesday, June 30 starting at 11AM. Saginaw has picks 52 and 112, although those will be higher as teams pass on making selections because they have their import slots already filled.
When I checked the import draft site a few days ago the CHL had already listed PASS next to teams but when I checked it again all those entries were gone. There were no passes next to Saginaw in the first or second round so I'm guessing they are making 2 selections.

Does that mean Solovyov is a goner ? Normally yes. Not this year. Apparently due to Covid the league made some new rules for protecting imports due to the uncertainty surrounding the seasons. One of them being imports that are going to be OA's dont have to be protected. Teams who have these players are allowed to make the normal amount of picks and retain the rights to their current players. |
