So now that all drafts are over what do you think is in store for the Spirit?
Will they make more trades or stand pat?
Will Combs and McDonough be back for their OA year?
Where will the Spirit end up in the standings?
Who is in for a beak out year?
Heard Daniel Pachis has to have surgery on his knee and will be out for quite some time. Too bad I thought he was really starting to play better when he was given a chance.

"Who is in for a beak out year?"
I am going to say Joe Plackatis is in for a breakout year. He showed a ton of potential towards the end last year.

I see that our #1 pick and his parents were in town over the weekend for the Grand Tour. Anybody have any info on how it went? After reading the story, I think that playing a year w/ his brother appears to be the wild card, so I'm going to predict we don't see Saad playing here this season. ( I have not heard a word about Pick #2 since Draft Day.......I don't know if that is good or bad.

Will Combs and McDonough be back for their OA year? Any word on Ryan Daniels?? Usually drafted players won't return for an OA year but I remember reading somewhere that the Ottawa Senators have a glut of goaltenders in their system.

Daniels is no longer attached to Ottawa. They did not sign him by 6/1, making him a free agent. Actually, Ottawa has very few goalies in their system, so this was a little surprising to me. His stock must have fallen significantly with them.

I think I will need a pre-season camp myself to get back in regular season posting form!!!
The Wings and Tigers are taking up my time, and I have been resting my typing fingers. But time to start aerobically training them again.......

While I'm thinking of it--the story on Brandon Saas on the Spirit website--written by the Spirit intern--was very good. It was AT LEAST as good as the S News story...... .......and that's all I'm going to say on that.
Would like to see the Spirit do more with articles of this type. This is the sort of thing that non-hockey fans will read. To his credit, Constantine did several excellent interviews with different players last season. (He appears to be accurate as long as his articles don't actually involve hockey, hockey being played, hockey leagues, hockey drafts, etc.........)

I predict: That Brandon Saad would prefer we spell his name the same way that it is spelled on his birth certificate. That Ryan Daniels will be traded to the London Knights. That our two goalies will be Eddie Pasqualle and Matt Hoyle who will change his mind and not go to Harvard. That our three overagers will be McDonough, Combs and Chappell. That Brandon Saad will play in Saginaw this season. That Saginaw will finish 2nd in the division and 4th in the conference and win, for the first time, their first round playoff series. That I will need to take a second job to pay for the cost of gas to go on all of the road trips that I have planned. That most of these predictions will most likey turn out to be wrong. That the season can't start soon enough. That most folks are already tired of reading this so I will stop. Have a nice day.

As I know this was written in mock seriousness let me respond in similar light-hearted fashion... Out of predictions 1 - 10 I agree with # 1 and 8, am unsure about # 4 and 7, and don't agree with 2,3,5,6, 9 and especially 10 (#9 only because that means summer is over)

I predict if Ryan Daniels gets traded, if will be for some offensive help.
I believe Tyler Murovich and Jordan Szwarz should each score between 20 and 30 goals this season.
I think Barry Sanderson should contribute between 15 and 20 goals for the Spirit.
I think the defense will be the strength of the 2008-09 Spirit.
I believe that if Combs and McDonough comeback, the Spirit should be a middle of the pack squad. If those two players don't comeback then the squad will struggle to put the puck in the net and will have to squeeze out a lot of 2-1 or 3-2 games.
For my two wildcard predictions, I predict that the Saginaw Spirit will sign Brandon Saad's brother George so the two of them can play hockey together. And I predict that the ice in the Dow Event Center will be better than it was at the end of last season.
