Your right you did write it and contrary to what you or others may think you are someone. You seem like a pretty intelligent guy, I'm sure you and others can figure it all out......

Is "newguy" the same guy who used post as someone from Auburn and caused all sorts of trouble here before? No. Asked and answered by SGF quite some time ago. I haven't seen any name-calling or personal attacks anywhere from newguy. Why would you even ask? Because he (or she) takes a position contrary to what others might think? Because he disagrees and--I think--respectfully defends his position? Anyone who doesn't toe the company line in this forum seems to get called a troublemaker sooner or later........ And on that note, I am thankfully gone for the holiday weekend. Hopefully there will be plenty of discussion about the Blue-White game when I return, as I'm going to miss it and am anxious to hear everyone's thoughts and views on it. Face it, people--9/17 cannot come too soon for us..........

Wow - now I'm really lost. Some would say I was before...but this makes it worse.
McCarty - your posts are real hard to follow. BP is correct, there's simply no need to be so cryptic or act like your feelings got hurt as you did a couple pages ago. Bizarre.

So there seems to be no mention of out overage goaltender Ryan Daniels in any of the Saginaw News articles .. Have any fellow spirit fans heard any rumblings or any information on how Daniels is doing in camp or anything? I saw this because there has been a couple articles about the camp, normally Constantine includes Daniels tradeability in every article so just looking for a little info ... Like someone else said Daniels is not in camp. Apparently hes not reporting, at home awaiting a trade. The Atlanta Thrashers site said he will be attending the rookie tournament in Traverse City in the next couple of weeks. Then as to where he goes is anyones guess..

UPDATE: All first round picks have now signed, except Fowler and Saad.
Did Daniels get an invite from the Thrashers to their rookie camp?

I believe he also was in Atlanta for their development camp in July along with 3 other free agents after reading some messages on the Hockey Futures board. Since hes going back he must of done well. Hopefully he can make something happen for himself after not signing with Ottawa.
Also, any word on Lepera. Rumored to be sidelined with a knee injury and Daniels not in camp .. Will he be ready for the season? or will the spirit be signing a draftee to play behind Pasquale?

Perhaps Zelenbaba is brought back in for a last go-round, at least temporarily? Who knows. They did draft 2 goalies in this year's draft, maybe one of them are coming in. They better have something planned!

I would bet Zelenbaba is nowhere near this team. After all, he had his skids greased when they signed Marc Andre Perron....
And getting only one start...EVER? He's not back.
I didn't know about Lepera...so who was the other goalie in the Blue-White game.
They've mishandled the Daniels thing. Have him back, have him stand on his head for a few games and then take the best offer for him. He's a valuable commodity in this league. A lot of teams would see him as an upgrade. How could he not help Windsor? Don't you think they'd put together an offer for him.
I'm not trying to sound repetitive.
1) Asselin situated was botched and the organization looked awful. No one denies this.
2) I guess the Belleville trade can be debated, but I was shocked they didn't get a 2nd round pick back, and I hope Pasquale can turn me around on the trade.
3) If they get very little for Daniels, it'll be so disappointing.
That's all.

Don't you think they'd put together an offer for him. normally I would agree with the "trade tryout" but I think everyone across the league knows what Daniels is all about and with hoping he stands on his head you also run the risk of having him get lit-up and completely losing value. Daniels will enter the season with the most experience (starts) of any goalie in the league and I think we should get pretty good value for him but I fear the worst (package of draft picks and a mediocre forward)

I highly doubt Daniels would get lit-up however he had made it very clear he wasn't coming back to Saginaw at the end of last year, whether he received a contract or not. I would think Windsor wouldn't be a bad fit for him, but I'd put money on London or Niagara. They both need some solid experienced tending and by the looks of Guy I don't think he's ready to carry the Knights this year. I could see Guy ending up in Saginaw, but then again hes also an OA who hasn't shown his full potential..Look for something to happen before the start of the season, I don't think Daniels will get much rest if any at all.

Any OHL team that wants to take a look at Daniels will need to go to Traverse City. He's not coming back here this year for any reason. He runs the risk of getting injured and losing the whole year before a trade. He wants out, he should get it. But, he might not even return to the league this year. It is a wait and see situation. And we probably won't get much for him in return.

Why shouldn't we get much? He could go to a team with real talent and a chance to go somewhere in the playoffs.
Why do we pay big for OAs like Nick Lees and Tyler Haskins (both quality additions) but when we have them to trade we should expect to get very little?
What's very little?
They certainly would have got more for Ryan Berard had they moved him in the summer, rather than after his brush with the law and being sent home. That's not Don Edwards' fault - the brush with the law thing. But if he'd known Berard wasn't going to factor into Saginaw's plans, much as with Daniels now - why not maximize their potential on the open market.
When did letting a player rot (strong words, I know, too strong) help their trade value??? Geoff Platt, anyone?

When did letting a player rot (strong words, I know, too strong) help their trade value??? I guess i'm just saying I don't think it will hurt his value, teams should know what he's capable of after 150 career games in the O.

That's all. My tongue was firmly planted in my cheek when I even mentioned Zelenbaba. How have the Spirit mishandled the Daniels situation? HE REFUSED to report to Saginaw this year, didn't he? How can the Spirit MAKE him report so that he can stand on his head a few games & then trade him? I am sure the Spirit would love to have him back to do just that, showcase a bit so we can trade him for fair market value. I am sure the Spirit organization does not like the goaltending situation any more than the fans do. That said, I can not wait to see how Pasquale does & see if he is the real deal. I would love for him to live up to the hype. I liked what I saw in his limited time on the ice last year for the most part.
