Feel free to offer suggestions as to what can be done with this team. So much promising outlook on this team prior to the season and after 9 games there needs to be some changes. I am done with the phrase "its early." Something big needs to be done now, can Drinkell have the parts to make a bold move this early.

You must be a politician since you started a thread, said you're sick of the rhetoric and placed the job of finding solutions on the rest of us.
"After 9 games there needs to be some changes." "I'm done with 'its early'." "Something big needs to be done now."
My solution...trade/release all the goalies and bring in someone who can stop the puck. We've given up 42 goals in 9 games which, wait for it, is DEAD FREAKING LAST in the league. Find someone who can give up 3 a game instead of 5 and suddenly the 3 goals we're scoring per game become a lot more significant.

Totally agree. I don't like to solely blame goaltending but in this case I believe the majority of our losses rest solely on their shoulders this season. It hasn't helped we've faced several goalies having great days as well. The coaches see it too, it's why Bonello was in goal last night. We need a major change there. Let's get it done.

Goalies are not even close to the issue with this team. 2 of our 3 goaltenders are legitimate NHL prospects at the goalie position, ask any NHL scout that is walking around the Dow. If one of our 3 goalies was struggling then maybe that's the issue. But when all 3 have issues that blame should be focused on the defense.
Only one goal last night was on Bonello and that the the shot from the big Ottawa defenseman in the 3rd. Should have gotten his glove on it. Everything else was a coaching error (leaving his line out after a long PK shift leading to a score)or defensemen pinching or being to slow to get back (looking at you DiTomaso, Crawford, Petchsnig).
My solution would be trade out some defenseman, preferably at least one the 3 listed above. Bring in 2 overagers (one at forward with Stephens out around 4-6 weeks)to bring a veteran presence to the team. Coach needs to tell his defense-men to act their size and put the body on someone. Stewart in the Missy game had the right idea, he laid a couple of monster hits that got the team going.
If closer to the deadline the team is still under performing you look elsewhere for for some moves. If those are in the coaching staff or with players that is to be determined. But at this point it has to be frustrating for the 3-4 guys on the team who bust their butts every night for the team to give up the game in the end.

Say goodbye to to all of our good players again. Thanks for the time guys. Buh bye Mitchell Stephens, buh bye Dylan Sadowy. Tye Fehlhaber, you will be gone soon. as we will be 'rebuilding' for next year again.
Hate to say it but it's true. Maybe not right now but later this year. Especially, if this team doesn't turn it around.

I'm not so sure there's going to be a fire sale on the bench, but there just might be one coming behind it. I think the promotion of Kisil to assistant GM was a sign from Drinkill that Gilbert was on a short leash. This team >should< be good this year and really good next year, so I doubt anyone in the front office will want to sell talent now (or anytime this season). My money is the next 'big move' is a new head coach. New GM, lots of new people/new positions over the summer, and a team that isn't playing up to par for a head coach that the (new) GM didn't hire. I'm not personally itching for a new coach, but there's plenty to indicate one is in the cards...

I believe that Kisil was given the assistant GM position because Drinkill was not going to move here and he would be here only 8 - 10 days a month. He needs someone locally to handle things for him as needed.

Now is the time a GM has to do his job and Manage !! I worry about the new GM being young and lacking experience.I guess time will tell.

I missed some things......
1) What happened to Stephens? 4-6 weeks?
2) The new GM is only here 8-10 days a month? And the Spirit knew this when they hired him? What happened to the days of people getting the ax because they wouldn't live here? (ie Mo Mantha). I have a big problem with this.

How do you run a team when you're only here a third of the time? I was not aware of this information either.

He wanted to continue to live in the Barrie area since he is much closer to the talent pool and much easier to scout other teams. It makes sense to me. I think it is the correct decision. The issue with Mantha was that he was going to be coach as well. The coach has to live here.

Opportunity for Drinkill now to prove he deserved this job. The manager needs to manage this poor start. I don't want to hear the team lacks talent . 9 games in time to address this in some manner.

The coach has to live here. Does Gilbert live here? I'm torn on this one...I tend to agree with you that the coach should live here but the other thing I'm looking at is why uproot a family when you're away from home a good part of every week? Even with that other side of the argument, I still think I fall on the "has to live here" because it sends a message to Ownership and fans that they're in it for the long haul and not just a stepping stone or temporary stop before the next gig.

I'm not sure what point you're making. If you don't want to hear that the team lacks talent, that means (I think) that you feel that we have talented players. If we have talented players, what is there for the GM to do to "prove he deserved this job?" If there's talent, it's up to the coach to get the most out of the talent. The GM could fire the coach but I'm not sure that's the right move unless he doesn't have the right schemes (which I don't know). Gilbert has shown in the past that he's been able to do good things with little talent. I think that's why people were optimistic about this year. Finally we have some good talent and now we'll be able to rattle off some wins. Obviously that's not happenning and there's three potential solutions to what ails us: 1) Puck possession 2) Defense 3) Goaltending 1) Besides the London Knights of Corey Perry's era, I've never seen a team that can possess the puck long enough to take the pressure off of defense/goaltender so we're going to toss that one out. 2) Defense...I'm a lifetime hockey fan but I'm nowhere close to a coach so I don't know if a scheme can be changed or strategy but it seems like we have good defensemen (Middleton, Petschienig, Niemaleinen is a top prospect, Crawford looked good last year) so maybe it's as simple as a new scheme and I don't know, maybe we need a new coach to teach that to us. 3) The most obvious answer and I've said it numerous times is the goaltender. I have argued many times over the years that we should have a 19yo or OA goaltender every year. Jake Paterson is a very good goalie and the fact that he was available in the OHL for his OA year says that there aren't enough available positions in the pros so there's a large supply of talented goalies. Evan Cormier is giving up 4 goals a game and he's our #1 goalie...that's flat out unacceptable in my book and when there's 15 guys giving up under 3, you trade him away RIGHT NOW and you get someone that is going to do the job this year and next. I hate saying trade away a kid but I want to win and that's what it's going to take. So ohlhcky, back to your post, what can Drinkill do now? If we need a new defensive scheme, the coach needs to change it or he needs to be changed. I know you said you don't want to hear the team lacks talent but we're lacking immediate talent at goalie. Could Cormier turn out to be really good? Sure, but I, for one, don't want to wait for it to happen, I want to win NOW (and next year more)!
