My comment about "starting another rebuild" was me being somewhat sarcastic. Obviously no one picked up on that. I've always been a "gut it out" person. Work with what you have, tweak here or there, but get the best out of what you have on any given day. There's plenty of talent on this team that they should be a serious threat any given night. It didn't seem like one of your normal posts but there was no emoticon (sorry, I can't can't use the word emoji) so I thought it was serious.

I sense some frustration out there in Spirit land. Not to worry, the Fox is here to ease your minds. First of all, if you don't want your sports team to win a championship every year, well then, you shouldn't be a sports fan. The problem is, more often than not they will break your heart. That said, I don't think it realistic to go from the youngest team ever in the history of the OHL to make the playoffs to a contender in one season. The plan was never and is not a one year plan. Throw in a new GM and there are bound to be a few bumps this year. I will give the new guy a chance and I like the fact he never backed off on the two year plan that he inherited. He is making moves and that's a good thing. I know some are quick to play "armchair gm" at every turn when it come to trades, but to be fair, none of us has the same information in hand that these guys have who are making the decisions do. When a guy throws in a 5th round pick and a conditional 5th round pick in a deal, it's just to get the "real deal" done. For instance with this last trade we got a former 1st round pick for a second round pick. I'd make that deal all day long. The 5th round picks don't matter. (I will make my point on that comment in a different post.) So relax folks and do what I do....enjoy the hockey. It's a long season and Saginaw will be right there at the end. Give the new GM a chance to prove himself. Jim P. took his fair share of shots in the beginning too.

You would give a 2nd rd pick for Daniel Pachis?

You would give a 2nd rd pick for Daniel Pachis? If you have to go that far back to come up with a bad trade example, then I feel pretty good about that. There are always exceptions, but generally speaking, getting a first round pick for a second round pick is a pretty good trade. Hind sight is always 20/20, It's hard to really know how a trade is going to work out. I don't mean to look at 2nd round picks lightly. We've had some pretty good 2nd round picks. (Szwarz, Trocheck, Pyatt etc.) But then you also have some busts (Brandon Burns, Anthony Soboczynski Chris Furguson, Thomas Craig, John Parker) I mean, the Parker pick got the GM canned. Trades and picks are always a crap shoot. Look at it this way, we got Dylan Sadowy in the 3rd round. (we took Addison and Prophet ahead of him) The bottom line is that only time will tell the value of any trade as well as any draft pick. I'm willing to wait before passing judgement.

AGREED but something isn't right. That talent is there but not the results. Don't like the Davies move.

Shoot, he's played 3 games wearing a Spirit jersey and none have been at home. I can't believe anyone can say a trade is bad before the guy has a chance to play. Like I've said in other posts about this, this COULD be a total bust but we're not going to know that until at earliest the end of the year and maybe not until next year.

I hate to go off on a tangent but since it was brought up, Martha Firestone Ford is probably the last person who should determine the fate of a sports franchise. She inherited a team because her husband died. Her husband was passed over as the leader of Ford Motor Co. even though his grandfather started it and his father turned the company into a powerhouse, because people knew he didn't have what it took. So he promptly spent 50 years driving a beloved sports franchise into the ground, winning one playoff game only because blind squirrels found nuts and used the high draft picks resulting from the Monte Clark era to draft Barry Sanders, Bennie Blades, Herman Moore, Ray Crockett, and Chris Spielman; and also hired a mostly competent football coach in Wayne Fontes.
Martha fired a couple of guys who should have never been given jobs in the first place -- they only got those jobs because of their relationship with the old man who didn't know what he was doing. They in turn have hired terrible football coach after terrible football coach.
What did she just do today? She names some guy Team President who is also connected to the family and has even less football experience than the terrible guy she just fired. Does anyone else think that the new President will do a good job choosing who the next GM or coach will be?
Meanwhile, the son of the old man and Martha, who was a good enough executive to run Ford Motor Co., might not still be good enough to know how to run a sports team, but probably knows a lot more about management than his 90 year old mom, seems to have been pushed out in favor of his mom and sisters.
The win in Green Bay might have been fun but it had more to do with the Packers failure than the Lions success. The Lions gave them every chance in the world to win that game. Every win going forward is going to give the Lions a worse draft pick and it increases the odds of their useless head coach actually keeping his job, which is the last thing that should happen.
The best thing for the Lions would be if they sold to a person who has the skills to surround him or herself with talented football minds, much like the owners of the Tampa Bay Rays did in the mid 2000s when they bought the team, threw out the old regime, and hired talented baseball executives for the front office.
At this present time, the future looks brighter with Al Avila in charge of the Tigers and some of the front office moves he has made recently (moves that sad old Dombrowski never would have made) than it ever has or ever will with the Lions.

Enough is enough, make some trades. Im sorry, but Felhaber should be dealt along with Sadowy when Stephens gets back. Something has to be done.

No, I am not kidding......although I have done some drinking over the past few hours and alcohol is still in my system.
In my opinion, a bold mood must be made soon. There is a lot of selfish play by a few players,. I do understand that everyone of these guys want to win and will try and do it on their own, but there are a few that just go over the top. Players that would be on the trading block would be: Sadowy, Felhaber, DiTomaso. A top end young defenceman is needed. London is making a run at it, trade Felhaber and DiTomaso for young Bouchard. With Sadowy a trade for second year forward. Sadowy is high value and a great trade could be made before his value goes down.

Sadowy rejected a trade last year because he wanted to stay in Saginaw... I can't imagine he'll allow a trade this year to relocate and change his life for only a couple months. He's been a great player and quality person during his time in Saginaw... I hope we keep him
