Neat to say we won a Memorial Cup game. Close score, but not really a close game. Moose Jaw really exposed us on those backdoor plays. Gotta tighten those up going forward. I thought we played a really good third period after that fiasco in the final two minutes of the second. Set the tone early with Bloom's goal and played sound hockey until the Warriors got desperate at the end. Though I wonder if the refs reviewed that wraparound play Moose Jaw had. That looked really close.
Overall a really fun night at the Dow. Cool seeing all the different jerseys from around the league. Wouldn't mind it if they open the doors to the arena about 15-20 minutes earlier. I'm pretty sure the line was outside the atrium by the time we could get in. Looking forward to a less stressful afternoon tomorrow at the Dow.

What a day! Loved seeing how downtown was jumping and then it was followed up by the spirit coming out with a incredible 57 minute effort and 3 minutes of stomach flu.
Oke looked good in his return... The only bad goal was the one that got overturned on the offside. Everything else was either an open net, backdoor or walk-in corner shot.
I couldn't be more proud of our town and the show we put on yesterday... It was just awesome and looking forward to many more days and hopefully more spirit wins!

An easy 4-0 win for London over Drummondville today. The Volts had a decent enough start before London ramped up the physicality and got in their heads. One thing I've noticed in the first two games is London and Saginaw have looked much faster than Drummondville and Moose Jaw, respectively. It will be interesting to see if that continues, or if they find their legs as the tournament progresses. Drummondville will need to regroup in a hurry.

Gutsy win tonight. Drummondville’s goalie was outstanding in the first. That along with being down 2-0 could have been easy to mail in the last two periods. Sima was EVERYWHERE tonight and was rewarded with more ice time as the night went on. Great to see depth guys step up. Also to the outside fans that want to scream about attendance, the capacity is not 5500 for this. With the new fan decks and all the camera decks put in its closer 5000 but I doubt they care.

Eff the Sault Ste Marie fans who continue to piss and moan about attendance. The building has been full for all 3 games so far. Oh, and let’s see how many of them walk back their predictions that Saginaw would not win a single round robin game. Eff Them!

Attendance is tough... It's memorial weekend... I've had trouble getting rid of even my extra Saginaw tickets because everyone is up north... Games and fan fest still seem really packed to me and the atmosphere is electric.
Great job by the boys to go 2-0...now the big matchup with the evil empire.
Hopefully we have the same ref as last night (Hopkins?) since he called tons of soft penalties... The knights will be in the box all game. I watched the replay of Hays penalty and he shoved the guy in the shoulder and got 2min for roughing... Lawrence does that 12 times a game

Just one comment on the reffing from last night - the roughing call on Hay may have been the weakest penalty call I’ve ever seen in my life.
In both of saginaw’s games, there’s only been a small handful of penalties.
London’s was filled. Let’s see what happens tonight - there’s a reason London led the league in PIM’s. Moose Jaw will be a lot harder to push around.
Really looking forward to the game tonight. Nice to be able to enjoy the game as a “neutral” fan.

The attendance thing is a non-story for me. People (entitled London fans and the still-salty Soo fans) just want another reason to dog on Saginaw. The crowds have been great and the arena has been more full than the last time the OHL hosted.
Excited for Moose Jaw/London tonight. I believe a London win means there will be no tie-breaker game. Hoping for a Moose Jaw win to cause some chaos tomorrow and Wednesday.

The 50/50 drawings sure have been high, including over $17,000 on Friday and last night.

There will be no tie-breaker game this Thursday thanks to London topping Moose Jaw, 5-4. Moose Jaw/Drummondville winner goes to the semi-final, while the loser's season is over. London/Saginaw winner to the championship, loser to the semi-final. A bit of an advantage for the lower seed, who will get an extra day of rest heading into Friday's game.

Correct...no tiebreaker since the pool play games can't end in ties. They play 3on3 overtime for a full 20min period if necessary. Could you imagine 20min of 3on3 hockey??? I guess the way that the teams keep circling around it could go for a little while but with the talent of these teams, I can't imagine OT would last very long. Should be an exciting game tonight with both teams in must-win mode!

A thrilling victory for Moose Jaw tonight (I was selfishly hoping for some OT) and they're off to the semifinal game. Drummondville probably deserved a better fate tonight, but they're the first team out. I for one really don't feel like playing Moose Jaw on Friday again.

In other news, London's Sawyer Boulton was suspended for one game and the Knights organization was fined $1,000 for "unnecessary contact" with a Moose Jaw player at the conclusion of warmups on Monday. I do not have a video, but did see Boulton elbow a Moose Jaw player in the chest who was exiting the ice. It then resulted in a lot of pushing and shoving. So he will not be in the lineup against Saginaw.

That was one of the best hockey games I’ve seen. First 30 minutes were pretty bland but the last 30 were what make junior hockey great. Had a couple of Drummondville fans next to us who were living and dying with each moment. Absolutely heartbreaking way to lose a hockey game. Do all that work to come back. Then get gifted a late PP thanks to a bonehead penalty. THEN have your league’s 5 year winning streak ended thanks to a short handed goal with a minute and a half left. That’s good stuff.

Agreed kingp I thought last nights game an excellent one to watch. The shot total is a bit deceiving as some of the Volts shots were perimeter and the goalie had good eyes on them. What impressed me was the pace and ZERO chippiness. One penalty each team and it came down to the wire. All in all , a great first time Mem Cup experience. And is doesn't hurt to sit with the esteemed Don Johnson... thanks again.
