That was one of the best hockey games I’ve seen. First 30 minutes were pretty bland but the last 30 were what make junior hockey great. Had a couple of Drummondville fans next to us who were living and dying with each moment. Absolutely heartbreaking way to lose a hockey game. Do all that work to come back. Then get gifted a late PP thanks to a bonehead penalty. THEN have your league’s 5 year winning streak ended thanks to a short handed goal with a minute and a half left. That’s good stuff. Ya... Too bad the first half was a snooze because it almost literally put me to sleep...for those complaining about attendance I'm a hockey junkie and I'm exhausted at this point from 6 straight days downtown... I'm so happy to not have the tiebreaker because we get a night off. Been an amazing experience thus far and should be a monster game tonight!

I'm so happy to not have the tiebreaker because we get a night off. My buddy and I had this exactly same feeling last night when Moose Jaw went up 3-0. Thankfully the game got exciting, but I'm definitely ready for a relaxing night at home on Thursday to get ready for the final two games. I thought the attendance was pretty good for a Q vs. W game on a Tuesday night. Tonight should be rocking.

I was really happy with the turnout last night - I had really low expectations.
For tonight, I just have one request for the Spirit. They will no doubt end up shorthanded today. Just please have someone stay on Halttunen and do not let him shoot. Turn it into a 4 on 3, I don't care, just don't let him shoot. Our penalty kill lately has seemed really conservative - they try to collapse and prevent the backdoor passes but Halttunen always seems to get open.
I cannot wait for this game tonight. I'd love to get in the front way to the championship game this time and not have to play Moose Jaw again.

You could argue if the Spirit win tonight it will set up the biggest game in the history of pro sports ever in Saginaw on Sunday. Also, tonight may be the largest crowd ever to see a hockey game in Saginaw. Not just those in the building, but watching outside as well.
Go Spirit!!

Tonight is arguably the biggest game to date in Spirit franchise history. Let’s Do This! Can not allow this to become a special teams battle. Saginaw is the better team 5 on 5. Special teams was the reason they lost the Western Conference Final against London.

We can beat them. It’s just little things.

That was a great hockey game... We were on the losing end but it was a great game between two good teams.
Time to thump moose jaw and then get our revenge

Tough result. Played well, just couldn't get a bounce in the third period, or much offensive rhythm, really. Can't look past Moose Jaw on Friday. I'm nervous about playing them again.

What a gut punch to give up the game winner with only 1:25 to go in the 3rd period. The big prize is still within reach.

TONIGHT was why you bring in a guy like Hay. When you have a team in Moose Jaw that is super top heavy, having that extra line can make or break things. Oke make an all timer save to make sure momentum doesn’t shift and then from there the 4th line takes over.
JUST WIN ONE MORE GAME

How about that snipe from Linc from outside the dot. Never would have predicted that score. But I did tell my wife before the game that outside of Firkus, Mateychuk and Yager, Saginaw had much more depth and it sure showed tonight.

Seems like that fourth line barely played on Wednesday. Don't think that will be the case on Sunday.
One more.

Well, today is the big day. Everything Saginaw collectively as a City and Team has been working for comes down to tonight. I was worried about the let down factor coming into play against Moose Jaw but Saginaw came out swinging and straight up embarrassed Moose Jaw. While I don't think we can embarrass London, I know everyone is salivating at one final opportunity to take down London.
I'll say the same thing I've said in past comments - the big guys need to step up today. Sapo, bloom, Beck, Christo, (and Oke) - these guys have to have a presence on the scoresheet for us to win tonight.
Regardless of what happens though, Saginaw - the team and fans - should be proud. This has been a fantastic tournament - and as someone who has been to previous memorial cups - this was handled as one of the best. Just as a reference point in Saint John two years ago - the concerts that were open to the public was held a couple miles away - with no free shuttles or transit to/from. Saginaw has also won 3 games in the tournament - not too shabby - and looked a clear step above Moose Jaw and even Drummondville.
We're about to be part of Saginaw history tonight and hopefully we come out on top.
It's been fun everyone! I won't be commenting until tomorrow morning. See you all at the rink tonight.
AND GO SPIRIT!

Just a reminder that if tonight’s game goes to OT, it will be playoff OT which is 5 on 5 (unless carryover penalty from 3rd period). 20 minutes on the clock with full intermission. 1st goal wins. If scoreless after 1st OT, wash, rinse, repeat until there is a winner.
