Just the most surreal feeling in the world. Come out of the gates and play maybe our best hockey ever. Hold London to ONE shot nearly half way through the game. 3-0 lead felt like we might actually do it. Then 3-1. The creeping thoughts start to appear. Look absolutely flat to start the third. 3-2. Oh no. it’s happening again. 3-3. No. Not like this. Please god no. And then something out of a story book. Donovan with the amazing keep at the line, throws it on net. And who’s there to send the Dow into chaos? Josh Bloom. Traded to North Bay after working his way up to captain here. Inexplicably makes his way back to Saginaw as an OA for one last push. Eliminated by London and then lose to the same knights in the last moments in the round Robin. Felt like we were just destined to be the knight’s stepping stone. But no. Josh was right there to push home the memorial cup winning goal. My mind may fail me 50 years from now but that goal is going to be among the last few things to go.

I have no words...our entire family was in euphoria last night and now I'm exhausted this morning. What a night for our team and our town. No matter what they say on the interwebs, WE hoisted that trophy and we'll be etched into that historic trophy forever. I am so proud of what everyone in Saginaw did from the volunteers to the team to the fans...what an absolutely exhausting two weeks and I would do it again in a moment's notice.
GO SPIRIT!!!!

Definitely suffering at work this morning after staying at the rink until 11:30pm last night. Worth every second though.

Kinda strange they didn't announce the parade at the game last night. I had to work, but wonder how many people could have been there at noon but didn't know about it.

It was pretty packed...way more people than the opening ceremony parade. I just wish they would have put the players at the end, it seemed a little anticlimactic having them be so early and then they were doing stuff on stage before the majority of people were at the jolt pavilion. I hate even to give that little nitpick because it was an AWESOME parade and the people who spoke were great and it once again made me extremely proud to call Saginaw home. |

Still doesn't feel real. If London and Saginaw played a hundred times the Knights might win 60-70 of them but it was Saginaw's night. I think I blacked out in the final minute and have watched Bloom's goal a million times. It will never get old. I'm so happy we'll have a banner up in the rafters of the Dow soon. Our trade deadline acquisitions came up so big last night. Beck with two goals, Bloom with the winner, Donovan with that keep-in at the blue line right before the game winner (I'm really going to miss Donovan, what a great kid on and off the ice). Drinkell is going to be working for a pro team sooner rather than later. Enjoying all the salt from the Soo and London fans today. Even the Hounds "Insider" dweeb had to go private on Twitter last night haha. Yeah it still stings to not win an OHL title this year, but as they say, he who laughs last laughs the loudest. Also, as a puck collector, if anyone has an extra "game day" puck from yesterday's game and wants to make some money, I'll be happy to buy one. Sadly the merch tent and arena store were sold out by the time I got there yesterday  |
