The Spirit's "magic number" to lock up the 8th spot over Owen Sound is down to 16 points. Any combination of Spirit points for and Owen Sound points lost totaling 16 points gives Saginaw the last spot outright.

It is impossible to overstate the importance of games the rest of the way, especially against teams from the West. We cannot afford any more mental lapses............

I'm starting to think we'll be finishing 7th or 8th. And maybe that's a good thing. For whatever reason, we play well against the top teams and not so well against teams more closer to us standings wise. I honestly like our chances better against Kitchener than Plymouth. Not that we'd likely play them in a series this year, but is that bad? Personally I'm hoping we finish 7th and Windsor wins the West Division, setting up a series with the Spitfires, since we've pretty much owned them this year. I reserve the right to change my predictions on a weekly basis

We've won 2 games against the Rangers, but those games and games now, added to the fact that they now have Steve Mason in net, are like night and day. I'd like to finish 7th, but every time we get a chance to move up, we don't grab it so I am not really too optimistic about that. If we really want to measure playoffs against regular season, I would refer you to our reg season record against the Soo last year........

Yeah, I thought about that. But for some reason I just think we match up well against the Spits. The Soo has always scared me. Come playoff time, it's not fun playing in the Steeleback Centre.

The schedule sure does not favor the Spirit right now. The Spirit get the Rangers while Guelph plays Erie. Erie sucks on the road so I don't expect much help from them. Saginaw needs to be on it's game against Kitchener, but can they make it three straight against the number one Rangers? Let's hope the boys get a good night's rest and come out flying.

Not exactly a strong weekend for the Spirit...just 2 out of 6 possible points. Only thing good going on today is Owen Sound losing again, which puts our magic number at 8. But honestly I'm not too worried about that anymore. Saginaw can go 4-9 in their last 13 games in still make the playoffs, even if Owen Sound won their remaining 10 games. Guelph defeated Erie today 5-2, so we are 3 points back of the Storm for the 7th seed.

Oshawa beats Owen Sound tonight 3-2...magic number is down to 6. Maybe once Saginaw clinches a playoff spot, they'll play a little looser, especially at home, and start to make a run at Guelph for the 7th spot.

Owen Sound has sure gone in the tank the last couple of weeks to help out. How about a win tomorrow in London to wrap things up so the boys can focus on catching Guelph or even Sarnia.

The 8 Western Conference teams are set as Saginaw and Guelph both win tonight and clinching the final two playoff spots in the process. Guelph defeated Ottawa 4-1 and Plymouth defeated Brampton 7-6 in a shootout. Now it's just a matter of where everyone all ends up. This race is going to come right down to the final weekend.
5) Plymouth: 68 points, 10 games left 6) Sarnia: 64 points, 11 games left 7) Guelph: 63 points, 11 games left 8) Saginaw: 62 points, 11 games left
Saturday's Key Games: Oshawa at Saginaw, Guelph at Owen Sound, London at Sarnia, Sault Ste. Marie at Plymouth
Tomorrow is our 3rd game in 3 nights, while Oshawa has been sitting around doing nothing since Wednesday. I wonder if the Spirit complained about this when the schedule came out...
