A big name is off the board this morning as Guelph trades Danny Zhilkin and an 8th round draft pick in 2025 to Kitchener for Jesse Fishman and six draft picks (2 2nd rounders, 3 3rd rounders, and a 4th rounder). The Rangers had a slow start to the year, but they've kinda flipped the switch and are loading up now.

Fellow 2024 Memorial Cup bidder Sault Ste. Marie trades their third leading point-getter Tyler Savard to Barrie for four draft picks (a 2nd, two 3rds, and a 4th). Likely back as an OA next year.

Sudbury trades defenseman Jacob Holmes to Windsor for five draft picks (2 2nds, a 3rd, a 4th and a 6th).

Another big name on the move as Oshawa trades forward Brett Harrison to Windsor for six draft picks (2 2nds, 3 3rds, and a 5th). Windsor going all in. And we get to play them 3 times in the next 10 days :-P

If I were them I'd pony up enough to swap OA goalies and get Lennox from us...tough to swallow in division but we traded Trocheck to Plymouth so not unheard of. That way Oke could start to get more work (like last year when Lennox was hurt) and get ready for next year when he'll be the #1 goalie

So Windsor, Sarnia, Kitchener, and London appear to be all in in the Western Conference.
With the prices paid, I'm not sure anyone will meet Saginaw's asking price for Mintyukov. And I think, if he is traded, he goes to the East. Who has the assets to make it happen? Maybe Barrie? Ottawa?
I think if Shane Wright is returned to the OHL he winds up in Peterborough. He's been on a line with Othmann at the WJC so it would only make sense for him to go there. That would likely take them out of the running for Mintyukov. If Wright doesn't get sent back, Mintyukov to Peterborough could happen.

Ottawa? I really don't want to trade Pavel but someone will pay the asking price. He is the best player in the league and whatever you're going to give up for Shane Wright, the cost to acquire Mintuykov should be that much higher. The combination of offensive/defensive skill is off the charts and he certainly seems loved by his teammates and is always smiling during those jersey auctions. He has already put us over the top in the standings and if I was a betting man, I would wager a month's salary on the team that he goes to winning the championship.

Are you saying if we don't trade him you predict we win the championship?

A former Spirit player is on the move. Barrie trades OA defenseman Ian Lemieux to Kingston for a 2026 6th round draft pick.
If I'm not mistaken, the OA trade deadline is next Monday, January 9.

Correct, OA trade deadline is January 9th and it’s the deadline for teams to be down to 3 OAs maximum on their roster.

I can see him going to the East, but do we deal with the top teams in the West only to have him rub salt in our wounds for the rest of the season?
by the way the Spits also picked up Harrison from the Generals for a TON of picks!
I think they are done trading.

Kitchener trades Adam Zidlicky and a 4th round pick to Mississauga for three draft picks (2 4ths and a 5th). More of a roster management trade than anything.

We're getting closer and closer to the deadline...now that World Jr's is done, I'm sure GM's are waking up this morning and trying to figure out a deal for some of these players that were frozen by the tournament. Also, from what I've read on other boards, Shane Wright will be eligible for the AHL next year because he will have played 4 years in the OHL. I was unaware of that rule but it's sounding like it's true so any trade for Wright would most likely be for this year only so I don't think we'd be interested in that.
My prediction:
Lennox stays with the team.
Mintyukov moves for a TON of picks
DD uses most of those picks to add a top 04 (similar to Haight) so we have someone for a year and a half.

Seattle has officially reassigned Shane Wright to Kingston. Have to think a trade is imminent. I'm guessing LA will send Brandt Clarke back to Barrie as well, but maybe no trade there.

Niagara trades forward Aiden Castle and import (I think?) defenseman Rodwin Dionico to Windsor for forward Christopher O'Flaherty, defenseman Bronson Ride, and two draft picks (a 2nd and a 6th). The Spitfires beef up a bit more and Niagara gets a little younger/some good pieces for next year's team.
Some online speculation that Barrie and Peterborough are front-runners to land Shane Wright.
