Are you saying if we don't trade him you predict we win the championship? Totally missed this and yes!

Niagara trades forward Aiden Castle and import (I think?) defenseman Rodwin Dionico to Windsor for forward Christopher O'Flaherty, defenseman Bronson Ride, and two draft picks (a 2nd and a 6th). The Spitfires beef up a bit more and Niagara gets a little younger/some good pieces for next year's team. Some online speculation that Barrie and Peterborough are front-runners to land Shane Wright. WOW the Spits are throwing the whole bucket at this year...

The Barrie/Peterborough speculation comes because Wright played with both Brennan Othmann and Brandt Clarke with Don Mills. And with Clarke being sent back to Barrie by LA, he has a chance to be reunited with those guys.
I predict Wright goes to Peterborough for Jack Van Volsen, the Pete's first round pick, and other assets. But don't sleep on Ottawa.
I think once the Wright situation gets settled, the market for Mintyukov will heat up as whichever teams miss out on Wright may come calling. But I'm not convinced that Drinkill trades him. He's just too important to this team and regardless if he comes back next year it's important to get some playoff games this year for the young guys.

Mississauga apparently is in sell mode. Reports coming out that they are dealing Owen Beck to Peterborough and the combination of Ethan Del Mastro and Luca DelBellBelluz to Sarnia.
If true, I think that takes Shane Wright out for Peterborough.
I thought Beck would have been the perfect target for Saginaw but he was born in Peterborough so he gets to go home and make a run at the league title.

I really hope we don't trade Mintyukov. He's so much fun to watch and as the leading scorer for the Spirit this season as a defenseman, I just hope we keep him. I get that Windsor just just loaded up and next year looks brighter for us, but next year someone else will load up and we'll be in the same situation. I say get what we can get this year, stand pat with what we have unless we can really add something to the mix, and let next year happen when it gets here.
But I don't get paid the big bucks. lol.

Big names on the move today, all deals are official:
Owen Beck from Mississauga to Peterborough for Jack Van Volsen, Justin Dezoete, 2 2nds, 3rd, 4th
Avery Hayes and Gavin White (2 OAs) from Hamilton to Peterborough for Nic Lardis, Sahil Panwar, 3rd, conditional 6th
Logan Morrison from Hamilton to Ottawa for 2 2nds, 2 3rds, 2 4ths
Ethan Del Mastro and Luca Del Bel Belluz from Mississauga to Sarnia for Porter Martone, Angus MacDonell, 2nd, 2 4ths
Still no word on Shane Wright. Apparently Team Canada is celebrating their WJC at the Leafs game tonight so all players are unavailable today. But Kingston has until Tuesday to move him so we'll wait and see.

Deadline for overagers is just under an hour away. While I hope that the team gets Oke some more opportunities in the 2nd half to get ready for next year, I don't see us getting rid of Lennox. The trouble is, the two likeliest options are Sarnia and Flint since Windsor seems to be getting good goaltending from Costanzo. Sarnia would be the most likely spot since Gaudreau isn't having the best year but they've improved in front of him so I'm guessing he'll have a good second half and he'll probably have a chip on his shoulder as well.
The one potential landing spot in the East is with our old trading partner in Barrie. Lennox would be an upgrade for sure there and one of their OA's (Declan McDonnell) isn't performing all that well compared to their other OA's (Cardwell and Vierling) who are both more than a point per game. Getting a couple picks for Lennox could be worth it if we can spin them into someone else.
My prediction though is that Lennox will stay with the team and we'll have Lennox, Hill and Smith for the rest of the year.

In case anyone missed it, this trade over in the WHL was pretty wild last night ( for reference, Kamloops is hosting the Memorial Cup this year, and the WHL lets teams trade future first round picks) Kamloops receives: -D Olen Zellweger (03) -F Ryan Hofer (02) Everett receives: -F Drew Englot (02) -D Kaden Hammell (05) -D Rylan Pearce (05) -F Jack Bakker (07) -2023 1st Round Pick -2023 2nd Round Pick -2023 4th Round Pick -2024 1st Round Pick -2024 5th Round Pick -2025 1st Round Pick -2025 3rd Round Pick -2026 1st Round Pick -2026 2nd Round Pick (conditional) -2026 6th Round Pick Kamloops was also rumored to be in on Connor Bedard, but it sounds like he has a no-trade clause and doesn't want to leave Regina.

I did see that aj and holy cow! One defenseman for (3) roster players, (4) 1st round picks and (5) other picks. If he's worth that much to someone, Mintyukov must be worth even more than that since I'm going to say that Pavel is the best defenseman in junior hockey. Funny that they are both Anaheim duck defensive prospects...good job drafting by that team for sure!

The OA deadline has come and gone (about 40 minutes ago) and there's no news to report around the league. So it appears that Lennox, Smith and Hill will finish their OHL careers in Saginaw. I do agree that I'd like to see Oke get a little more action leading up to the playoffs and I assume that he will.
Less than 24 hours until the main deadline. Wright and Mintyukov seem to be the last two big names out there, unless Flint decides to start selling.

London has traded forward Ben Bujold to Hamilton in exchange for two draft picks (a 3rd and a 5th). Bujold is a former first round pick in 2020 (chosen right after Saginaw picked Adam Fantilli).
A goalie swap between Guelph and Oshawa: Guelph trades Jacob Oster (04) to Oshawa for Patrick Leaver (03) and a conditional 5th round pick.

No deal yet (I think that THN guy who first mentioned it yesterday is often pre-mature about these things), but London clears another forward spot by trading Nicholas Yearwood to Sudbury for a 10th round pick.
Elsewhere:
Sarnia trades Chandler Romeo and a 2nd round pick in 2026 to Guelph for a 2nd and a 4th, both in 2023.
Owen Sound trades Julian Fantino to Sault Ste. Marie for Landen Hookey. The teams also swapped 15th round picks in 2026 as part of the deal for some reason.

Looks like Windsor may be in the running for Wright. I could do without London or Windsor getting him, personally. lol.
