+1 on Punnett, but if Bloom really is coming back then I guess Loukus would be the odd man out. I think we really need help on D and I trust Drinkell to get someone.

The Bloom rumor (getting him as a free agent) made me curious to look back at the trade from last year...if you subtract the half season that we didn't have him here's how the trade shakes out. This includes the deal that brought Gauvreu to town for Bloom and then shipping him out for Guo:
We gave up: 4 months of Bloom, Hislop and a 4th round pick
To get: Sima, Guo, 2nd, 2nd, 3rd, 3rd
I tell you what...forget retiring another Spirit player number, we may need to build a statue for Dave Drinkell because he essentially traded a journeyman defenseman for 2 players and 4 picks...holy cow!!!!!!

Tough to see Dean go after how long he's been here, but I felt the writing has been on the wall for a while. I'm glad he's going to another contender in Mississauga. They had an open OA slot, I believe, so it was a natural fit. Best of luck to him.
Josh Bloom is officially back.

All quiet on the Owen Beck front today, but unsurprisingly he is out of the lineup as the Petes are in Flint tonight.

All quiet on the Owen Beck front today, but unsurprisingly he is out of the lineup as the Petes are in Flint tonight. Apparently Beck won’t waive his NTC. Not just for us. ANYONE. Maybe he just wants to be done with junior? Petes get eliminated early. He can go off to the AHL all the sooner. Would screw the Pete’s over big time but well within his rights.

Beck staying in Peterborough doesn't bother me at all... Just don't want him going to Sudbury or a western team. It hurts the petes but won't have any affect on us. We can target someone else with those assets.
I always figured that players would be chomping at the bit to come here this year but maybe with him playing in it last year he just wants to be done like others have said.

If Beck wants to stay in PBO, if he does indeed have a NTC, then that's his right. Does no harm to the Spirit and only screws the Petes over. I'm sure they want to trade him more than Saginaw wants to acquire him.
Also seen some rumblings that North Bay has decided to be buyers. That'd likely take Ty Nelson off the market.
Down in Flint, Zacharie Giroux and Braeden Kressler were both healthy scratches last night. Have to think Gavin Hayes will be highly sought after as well.

A trade between Sarnia and North Bay
North Bay receives: -Andrew LeBlanc -Jacob LeBlanc -Sandis Vilmanis
Sarnia receives: -Alex Cajkovic -Carter Kostuch -2nd round draft pick (2027 NB) -3rd round draft pick (2024 PBO) -4th round draft pick (2024 SAG) -4th round draft pick (2025 NB) -5th round draft pick (2025 WSR) -5th round draft pick (2026 BAR)
That's a really nice return for Sarnia. Kostuck is a 2007-born first rounder from the most recent draft.

At long last, the Firebirds have decided to be sellers. Kressler off to the 67s.
Ottawa receives: -Braeden Kressler -3rd round draft pick (2024 NB) -10th round draft pick (2024 LDN)
Flint receives: -2nd round pick (2026 SSM) -3rd round pick (2024 FLNT) -3rd round pick (2024 KIT) -3rd round pick (2027 LDN) -9th round pick (2025 OTT)

If flint is going to be sellers, maybe one of their forwards would be a nice consolation prize for Saginaw to target if Beck doesn’t materialize.
I’d like to believe that there’s just too much emotional luggage to have that trade (beck) right before SAG and PBO play tonight, so hopefully it’s announced shortly after.

It would be nice to get all of the Hay(es) out of Flint this year if the Beck deal falls through.

Aiden Young is once again a healthy scratch tonight. Rodwin Dionicio is back in. Josh Bloom is also back and wearing an "A".

Guo was hurt in tonight's game and had to be helped off the ice. If this is a serious injury, acquiring an experienced defenseman will be a priority.
