I had posted earlier that I hoped to grab Roman Schmidt from Kitchener as the big lockdown defenseman that we need which of course would have meant losing Loukus who isn't performing where I thought he would be this year and I wonder if an OA on the 3rd line is the right move in a go for broke year.
Anyway, Kitchener had to shed an OA and I'm still really curious on what direction they will go...this was supposed to be a rebuild year for them and I still think they'll trade some players but they're killing it right now so who knows.
I project that we're going to trade for one big stay at home defenseman (since we already have Parekh and Dionocio as offensive dmen) and one or two forwards. My preference on the forwards would be strong on the puck guys like we got with Tippett and McCleod a few years back. With the puck possession style that we play, we need guys who can skate and carry the puck. We have guys who can score (Christopoulus, Mangone, Misa, etc.) but we need guys who demand attention so the defense forgets about those guys on the back side and they can score easily.
I still think we're good in goal...Oke has top 5 numbers (currently 3rd) and Lalonde must have been really good in Flint the other night. I'll toss the London game aside for both and call it a bad game overall but I think they make a nice pair in net.
Interested to what you all think might happen between now and January 10th

Ty Nelson and Jorian Donovan were left of Canada’s WJC team. Maybe get an early jump and add of them to the blue line before the break? If a shut down guy is the goal, Konnor Smith for the Petes would be a good choice.
Still think we land Owen Beck at the deadline. Can slide Haight out to wing. I think his game is better suited for wing anyway. Would give us the league’s best set of centers.

Owen Sound’s Colby Barlow is still out with an injury. It’s been at least 2 months now. I have heard nothing about a projected return.

Sorry, I knew Schmidt was traded, that's what prompted my post since he was off the market.

With the Petes coming back down to earth I, too, think Owen Beck will be the top target at the deadline. He's got the Memorial Cup experience, which I think is a great asset. I would also prefer a shutdown guy on defense, personally. Maybe try to get him and Smith from the Petes?
Highly doubt at this point Del Bel Belluz will get sent here.
Still not sure if Lokus will be around post-deadline. He's been better as of late, but who knows if it's enough.
Really liking Oke's game for the most part. I'll chalk the London game up as a bad night.
I'm no OHL GM but I could see Kitchener just kind of doing a soft sell.

I’m really curious about Barlow. At this point it would be a flyer, high risk high reward trade. The fact that he’s been out for 2 months makes me think he just is not a viable option any more.

First major deal on the way. Interesting trade. Doesn’t really improve Owen Sound all that much and Petes get an 07 for Smith. Takes a D man off the board for us.
