Their goaltending is not championship quality. Hopefully Drinkelll can address that

During our not-so-great game last night, the Soo Greyhounds loaded up with Gavin Hayes from Flint and over-ager Jacob Frasca from Barrie. Flint's draft cupboard is overflowing right now and I have no idea what they're going to do with all of those picks. They'll probably need to move some around.
Soo receives: -Gavin Hayes
Flint receives: -Connor Clattenburg -Alex Kostov -2nd round draft pick (2027 SOO) -3rd round draft pick (2025 SAG) -4th round draft pick (2026 SOO) -5th round draft pick (2025 SOO)
========================================
Soo receives: -Jacob Frasca -8th round draft pick (2024 KGN)
Barrie receives: -Brenden Sirizzotti -2nd round draft pick (2024 FLNT) -3rd round draft pick (2026 KGN) -4th round draft pick (2025 KGN)

Their goaltending is not championship quality. Hopefully Drinkelll can address that Goal 1: Defender let’s guy blow by him. That’s not a goaltending problem. Goal 2: PP. Never blaming a goalie for PP goal. Goal 3: PP again. Everyone crams in the corner. Gives shooter time to set up where he wants to. Goal 4: All 5 guys are watching the puck carrier. No one to cover guy at the faceoff dot. Goal 5: Defender whiffs on trying to break up a pass. Turns into a give and go. Another shot from high percentage area. There are other things to work on (always are) other than goal tending. Oke still has a sub 3.00 GAA. That's plenty fine to win with. Clean up the dumb mistakes.

I am not talking about one game. But Lazary mentioned his play was not good that game. How many times has he been pulled this year? 3? His play is good or not so good. Lacking in consistently. Lalonde gives up one or maybe 2 soft ones per game. This is not good enough. Reminds one of years ago when the team added many at deadline and went with Ryan Daniels in goal. That was a mistake. I believe it was the Soo that knocked them out in the first round.

I believe it was the Soo that knocked them out in the first round. The point is that we could do this for every game. It’s almost never a goaltending issue. The recipe for recent champions has been the same. Build your team in front of the goalie. Don’t go chasing one. The Daniels year was when O’Mara went down? No slight to that team but it was no where near as good as this team.

Former Spirit defenseman Roberto Mancini was traded by Windsor to Flint for a 2nd and 3rd round pick. Other than getting a body into the lineup that seems like a lot.

OK, let's say goaltending is an issue. Who you getting? Where are you finding a goaltender at deadline?
Oke had a bad night last night. He's had a couple of them. He's also had plenty of spectacular night, and nights he's kept us in games or won us games we didn't have any business being in. Lalonde gets better with every start he gets. The more he plays the better he gets. I agree with the above comments. Not only is there not a goaltending option that I'm aware of, but I'm not seeing goaltending being the issue. Not only that, but we've performed very well since November, and you're not going to win every game, so even with no changes I don't think there's any reason to panic. Is there room to improve? Sure, tons of it. There always is. But there's no reason to panic over one game, especially one where we STILL don't have our complete team out there.

It's official. Owen Beck is now a Saginaw Spirit! Aiden Young and three draft picks to Peterborough.

Saginaw receives: -Owen Beck
Peterborough receives: -Aiden Young -2nd round draft pick (2025 OTT) -2nd round draft pick (2027 SAG) -3rd round draft pick (2026 MIS)
I think this is a really great trade. I was expecting a few more draft picks to go back. Still have ammo to add more (hopefully upgrade the defense). Peterborough is doing an impressive job of adding '07s to load up for a 2027 run.

And a big trade for Donovan from Brantford (8 picks).
There's the forward and defenseman that I said we needed. Adding Bloom on top of that and I think we can call it a day...doubt we'll see any other moves.

And there it is. Saginaw has essentially emptied the cupboard now, getting defenseman Jorian Donovan from Brantford for eight picks. Not sure if we'll be doing much else unless it's a player-for-player move. This might be our team.
Saginaw receives: -Jorian Donovan
Brantford receives: -2nd round draft pick (2025 BAR) -2nd round draft pick (2026 OS) -3rd round draft pick (2025 OTT) -3rd round draft pick (2025 BAR) -3rd round draft pick (2026 SAG) -3rd round draft pick (2027 SAG) -4th round draft pick (2026 MIS) -4th round draft pick (2027 SAG)

Day Flint Surzycia Sarnia Oster Oshawa As I said, this is not about last night's game

By my count, Saginaw is now out of player cards so no new players can be added.

Tough to take you seriously when Nathan Day is the first name listed. If Flint and Saginaw were trading Oke and Day it would be Oke for Day and a 4th round pick at this point in their careers. Same goes for Sarnia...it would be Surzika and a 3rd for Oke.
I've always liked Oster (and thought he played really well last night) and he would be a slight upgrade over Oke in my opinion but I don't think it's worth doing. Oshawa would want Oke and at least one high pick and I just don't think that's a deal I'd make considering Oke's numbers on the year are currently better than Oster.
