Thanks mccarty again I'm sorry and this will be my last hijacked post on this thread, but I would like to ask the admin that perhaps he could give mccarty another chance since I do find his posts informative whether I agree with them or not.

I missed whatever happened (although I can pretty much figure it out from the posts afterwards), and had I seen it, I probably would have hit the button... but as I said, I missed it (I can't patrol this place 24/7 - that is why I hope that everyone can be mature enough to watch themselves - I don't want to be a babysitter!). No one is being deleted as of right now.

6 pages of banter prior to August 1st. That's great to see in my book. Appreciate all of the insight as I just haven't had time to do my own research lately.

Doesn't completely rule Werek out--we all know of guys who have changed their minds on the OHL/USHL/NCAA continuum. To be fair, Werek had always said he was an NCAA guy. Kingston would be another team that can ill afford to be losing first round picks.

For some reason i can not get the article. However Spiritfan if that is what he is talking about that does not sound good. Also I change my prediction, the Euros will be here at least I hope they will.
I still can not get the feel for the season to start. I need them to pump up a new player coming in before I get excited. It doesn't appear that we have that yet.

"These kids, these '92 (born players) are young babies. Many still don't know what they want and we'll do what we can to get him here."
What a moronic quote by Don Edwards. Some of you Edwards apologists, you cheerleaders, please try and defend this.
You're working on getting Saad and/or Parker to report, to commit because it'd be completely and utterly embarrassing not to have either of your first two picks here this year...and this is what you say?
I realize he didn't mean "babies" in a completely 100 percent insulting manner, but how do you take it if you're the player. How do you react if you are the parents? Dumb. Dumm. Dumer.
It's a backhanded slap by a guy suggesting he knows better than THEY do what THEY should do with THEIR future. I agree, being a teenager is a confusing time, but when I went to college or decided I'd play high school hockey instead of high school basketball, if the basketball coach said "he's just a baby..he doesn't really know what we wants". Yes, I did. I wanted to play hockey, so I did. Fool.
Honestly, can any good come out of a quote like this? Sounds like a guy grasping at straws to explain why his roster might be undermanned this season. Just being honest.

I quote Edward "We have not signed anyone because of the depth of the organization." Are we really that deep? When did this occur? Is this why we chanced our 1st and 2nd round pick this year? If we are this deep who got us here? Was it last years picks? Where is the depth?
Side note I heard that Combs is playing in the AHL next year, so I know that we don't have depth in OA's.
I'm not sure how to take the babies commit so I won't discuss it. However I have said before and I will say it again that most of these kids know what they want to do in there future. Ask any kid who played in college or major juniors and they will tell you it wasn't much of a decision for them.
Again if the kids made there intentions known on what they wanted to do and we picked one who didn't want to play juniors and Edwards can not convince him to come that falls on him. I'm guessing Kessel and Porter were better players then these guys and although we did take a chance on them it wasn't in the 1st or 2nd round. I believe we took fliers on them.
Just my take on this situation. Please feel free to commit.

If this club is that deep, we should expect nothing less than an OHL championship in 08-09, right??

Well, I am not quite sure why you have disdain for people who are optimistic about the season, but I guess if I am offended I must be one you are talking about. But, if you want to see me limber up and wear a skirt you will definitely be sorry! Not a pretty sight!
Edwards statement is clearly moronic, and I am guessing that he has his foot firmly planted in his mouth. I guess I don't take Edwards comment as him saying he knows better than the player or the family what avenue is best. From the way I read it, I think he is trying to say that the Saginaw Spirit and the OHL is a better option than those that the players may be considering at this time. I guess it really depends.
In terms of Parker, if he wants to be an NHL player then the OHL is his best route. Last I looked UMASS-Amherst is not a highway to the NHL. But, if education is more important than UMASS might be the better choice than coming to the OHL.
As for Saad, if the rumors are true about him, he could be going to Notre Dame if he decides not to come to Saginaw. That program has really grown in the past few years, and appears as though it will continue to grow. That could be a win-win for the Saad family. Who knows.
Many things play into the decision as to whether to come to Saginaw. Friends, family, etc. New school, new friends, new family for the most part. It can be tough transition. But, as I said before and was so perfectly put by sf8, players are better by going through the adversity and dealing with it. These same issues will be prevalent next year if they decide to come, and we may lose them for a second year even if they are here.
By the way, anyone else think Constantine plagarized the board in writing his article? A little mention would be nice.
My take and open for criticism!
