For what it's worth, from the Kingston TV guys during today's game, the winner announcement has been pushed back into early April. Saginaw has "the inside track".
Jeff Marek reported on Hockey Night in Canada last night that the presentations wrapped up last week and CHL was now doing their due diligence with the four bidders.

I heard it too aj...they also didn't know some other details so I took it with a grain of salt but it was very positive nonetheless!
At the sponsor dinner/reception last week Goslin said that they had done their presentation that morning and that it had gone very well. I wouldn't expect them to tell the sponsors that it went poorly so again, same salt cliche. They also showed a video at the end of the night that I'm sure was a part of their presentation and it was very well done. Hope we get it!!!

Just stoking the fire here, but of the other three teams bidding - Niagara, SSM, and Kingston - they are all currently bottom of their divisions as we approach the final stretch. Not “close to the bottom” or “near the bottom”, legitimately at the bottom.
Of course we will never know how much that really does or doesn’t matter, but it’s another thing in Saginaw’s favor.

That is why I think it sets up well for us... To me there's not another town who has a bid that just blows everyone away with a new arena or something like that. Sure, our proposal probably has holes but I think we are going to check enough boxes compared to everyone else and it's finally time to have it in the (ohl) United States

I wonder how much Sault Ste Marie losing out on the 2021 Memorial Cup due to covid will play in their favor this time around?

^^^^I think this is the Spirit’s main obstacle.

I think the Soo missing out last time is a fair concern , and to that I say:
1 - I would fully expect that Craig Goslin is connected enough to know that we’re going to get a legitimate consideration
And
2- don’t forget Saginaw also got screwed over. We were OHL champion contenders before the 21 season got shut down and we traded for key players only to not have the playoffs and be able to recoup assists via future trades.
I still believe this is the perfect storm opportunity for the CHL to come back to the USA. Even if the Spirit are still in a good position in three years, right now we will be able to showcase Misa and Parekh plus whomever else we get. The Soo would have just as likely an opportunity to bid and win for the next tournament here, an opportunity I think Saginaw wouldn’t.

When the memorial cup returns to the OHL in 3 years Misa will either be in the NHL or we will be trading him to reload the cupboard

From today's Saginaw News, in case anyone missed it. Potential updates to The Dow if Saginaw hosts the tournament would include a new locker room, four additional VIP suites, more restrooms, and renovations to the media suite. Regardless if the tournament is held here or not, the ceiling inside the arena will be replaced, and updates to the lighting and "modifications to existing infrastructure and equipment within the venue". Lots of changes coming outside the facility as well, which sound visually pleasing. www.mlive.com/news/saginaw-bay-city/2023/03/in-memorial-cup-bid-saginaw-scores-momentum-for-multimillion-dollar-projects.html

Agree with your take, Bthumme—i hope we see it correctly. I do believe the Soo is the main competition fir the above state reasons.

Continuing with the theme of conflicting reports, I've seen both the Kitchener and Guelph radio guys saying the winning bid will be announced on Thursday, March 23.

Rumors suggest that tomorrow (March 23) the host for the 2024 Memorial Cup will be announced. It's time for Spirit fans to cross their fingers and perform whatever good luck ritual to help with Saginaw's bid.

I'm going to try and say this one more time in case it is actually announced today.
I think most people will agree it's down to Saginaw and SSM.
I just don't see how you can give it to a team that's not even going to be in the playoffs this year. I know it sucks they were going to host it 3 years ago (were they actually ever picked over Oshawa?) , but like I said we were also in a legitimate shot to play our way in then.
But the Greyhounds aren't in the playoffs right now. Despite not recouping assets lost in the trades from 3 years ago, here we are. I don't care SSM has a couple new practice rinks, those rinks will be there in a couple years and will be in fine condition.
There has never been a better time for the Spirit to be in a position to host this. Parekh and Misa are going to be must-see names in the league. Haight will be back, Oke will be back, we may see one of our import picks from last year show up (Hauser?), and we will certainly make a couple moves to bring in high-profile players like we did with Tippet and Mcleod.
SSM will have no problem being considered for future memorial cups. But now is the time for Saginaw and our surrounding communities to shine, because this really is the perfect storm of opportunity lining up. If the league is genuinely upset that SSM didn't get it last time, make an under-the-table deal that they will get the next one, with full support from the Spirit organization. They won't be in any worse of a situation then they are now.
