Love it! It may be an uphill battle but we should be ready to win a title and it would be so awesome to host this!

When I first heard the news I was ecstatic. Then I thought about it for a couple minutes and realized that while great, it was probably just a nice thought that will ultimately fall short.
I've been thinking about it all night, and now that I've given it some real thought, I say "why not us?" Yes, we probably need to make some adjustments to the Dow. That's fine, this isn't building world cup stadiums.
Listening to Craig talk on the intermission report tonight, it's definitely going to be a great lakes region pitch and we do have a lot to offer to guests, including Birch Run and Frankenmuth. There is absolutely no doubt that Misa is the real deal, as well as a really strong core of young guys - not to mention whomever we will no doubt acquire over the next season and a half.
Quite frankly, the Soo/Niagara/Hamilton could be legitimate hosts any year. Yes, I know a big part of what goes in to hosting is having a contender-worthy team (even though Saint John lost in the opening round of the playoffs this year (and still won the tournament)). Saginaw is not going to be held in this light every (3) year(s).
I would love to see the Spirit pull some strings and make a real hard push for this.
I've gone to the last couple memorial cups, including when it was in Red Deer. And while the people were great and the venue was good, there just wasn't anything at all to do as a visitor. I know we could offer more, and would imagine having some type of bus system set up to transport people between Saginaw/Birch Run/Frankenmuth all throughout the tournament.
I think we do have a legitimate shot at this, especially if Misa continues to shine.

I'm not sure if Saginaw will get it (I personally think Sault Ste. Marie is the favorite), but the Spirit certainly have the most intriguing bid of the four cities. It's also a bit heartwarming to see all the comments on Twitter hoping that Saginaw hosts. While they don't get to pick, some fans and media have been calling for an American host city for a while now, and it might be a good PR move for the CHL to finally do it. There are 8 American teams, after all.
Two things that come to mind that might hurt the bid are lack of hotels within walking distance to the arena, and suites within The Dow. I'm not sure our makeshift party decks are going to cut it, but it's a start. We also might need some more locker rooms. Another not-so-really important update I've kinda wanted is building an actual team store out there...I think it'd really help alleviate the traffic during intermissions in the concourse.
It'd definitely be a once-in-a-lifetime event for the region and would be huge for the local economy, so my fingers are tightly crossed.

Personally I think the Spirit have a pretty good standing in the OHL right now and are pretty well-respected, and if there's a chance that there's going to be one in the US again, they would be the team to do it.

If the Spirit have a decent chance of landing the bid, I very much doubt Pavel gets traded this year (unless the Ducks have already decided that he’s staying up next year. A distinct possibility given his dominant play)

My guess is that is the route Anaheim is going to take, as he would be far too good for the ohl next season

I think Saginaw has a better than average chance of pulling this off. No US based OHL team has ever hosted. Saginaw is in a position of putting on a show and let's not forget that the OHL would love nothing better than to show off their exceptional status player. I like the idea that Saginaw is going to hire outside help to produce the bid. It takes money to pull this off and Garber and Company have many friends with deep pockets. The way I see it, Saginaw is the odds on favorite to win the bid.

The only chance of seeing him might be the route the NYI took w Bode Wilde, when they “sent him back” just before the playoffs started. Of course, the playoffs never did start that year.

Food for thought: the Soo was hosting the 2021 Mem Cup—that would be the Covid Cancellation Cup. Might there be a deal already in place to make it up to them? They also have a large amount pledged from the city (as does Niagara) or so rumor has it. I certainly imagine the Spirit have their ducks in a row on that, but who knows what’s going on in each city? Just tossing it out there.

I really do think the fact that we have Misa, and the team we're expected next year bodes well for us. We shall see.

Maybe the Spirit, the city, etc. don’t want to “show their cards”.
