Has anyone seen plans or know where you can see plans of what the upgrades at the Dow will actually be/look like? I know they keep saying four suites, updated locker rooms, a new locker room, maybe even an elevator to suite level, but I haven't seen any drawings or anything official. Has anyone?
I'm just curious because I'd love to know what the plans are. And no, I have no inside info, though I haven't asked around much.

I was told that the former visitor's locker room (across from the current visitor's locker room) will be remodeled into one larger locker room. I guess right now it's all chopped up in there. Also, the current visitor's locker room will be remodeled. The fourth locker room will be a trailer. The Spirit will continue to use their own locker room. I'm not sure about what they're going to do with the media areas above the arena.

I was curious myself so I did some digging and found minutes of the County Building Authority committee. As I read some of those looking for clues, I saw that we're still operating on the temporary chillers for the new ice equipment. Sounds like the new equipment is coming soon but I've seen the ice crew fixing spots the last handful of games and it's been a little colder in the building so I'm guessing all of those are related. Hopefully we'll have the great ice we deserve next year. I think it was last season, someone told me that with the new equipment we could alter the condition of the ice (make it faster or slower) within 10 minutes with the new system...that's pretty crazy. Anyway, here is the link to the minutes: www.saginawcounty.com/departments/controller-finance/building-authority/Looks like they meet again tomorrow and I'm guessing that will be a major topic for them.

I also was unaware until just the other day that the chillers still hadn't been updated permanently. Let's hope the progress this summer is faster than the work on the elevators in the parking garage. At the rate those are going, they might be finished by the time Misa is playing in the NHL.

The temporary chillers are parked on the north side of the building near the northeast corner. You can see them as you come down the off ramp off of south/east bound I-675.

Still curious where, specifically, the suites will be going. Can't wait to see the progress.

Tickets are on sale now for season ticket holders. You have to buy the whole tournament but it works out to $43-53 per game, per ticket, depending on level. That's about what I would expect for something like this and I'll be pulling the trigger for sure to buy my season tickets. I've been to big events before like college football playoff games and face value for those games are typically north of $500 and I had friends pay over a grand on stubhub so to pay a similar price and get a bunch of good hockey games, I'm all for it since it's a one time thing.

I was actually surprised to get ticket information this early. Since they advertised that season ticket holders would get an opportunity to use their seats, I guess they had to do it early so people would commit. My guess is after they know how many are used for that, they'll start developing some sponsor packages or something like that. I thought I'd have to do a sponsor package to get tickets but am very happy that I can secure them in my regular seats. If I hear anything else, I'll share it here for sure.

The deadline for season ticket holders to purchase full tournament ticket packages is Friday, July 14th. I just paid for mine this afternoon.

Heard last night they are building another one of those giant party deck things on the opposite side of the arena (sections 1-2-3 I think). The upper ring/catwalk area is being completely rebuilt for the expanded suites, press area, and other amenities. It will look "unrecognizable" from what it's been since the building opened. Also sounds like there will be a concert or two in the pavilion across the street during the tournament (possibly on the Thursday before the first round-robin game and/or the Saturday off-day in between the semifinal game and championship game).

Craig Goslin posted a video on Facebook you can check out. The width of the upper ring seems a lot wider (or maybe I just have a bad memory). All of those advertising signs that have been there since the 2002 renovations have been removed and will be replaced with a ribbon board that encircles the arena, so they'll have to move the banners/Trocheck's retired number elsewhere. Still looks like a lot of work to do, but nice progress thus far.
