Well, Round 2 is upon us and it brings our old friends the Soo Greyhounds to the table. The regular season was an interesting one with both teams laying eggs in all the home games and the road teams came to play. That's why I think that Game 1 is crucially important to break that cycle. We know we can win in the Soo but we need to continue to hold home-ice if we want to get through this series. The Soo had some struggles at times against Guelph but had a big comeback in Game 3 and ultimately dominated the Storm in the series. We somehow have to get to Schenkel early...if he gets in a groove, he's a tough goalie to score on because of his size. His movement side to side is his weakness so we have to finish the opportunities when we have them. Both teams are on an extended break so it will be interesting to see if either comes out rusty.
Should be a fun series...I think it will be 6 or 7 games and I think we're the better team but you never know who will show up.

Great win to start Round 2 of the playoffs. I thought it was a well-played game, but What happened at the end of the game to piss off the Greyhounds? They were out there mouthing off to the Spirit players and not wanting to go to the locker room. Credit Hache' for getting the Spirit players away from the nonsense and into the locker room.

For me it's about protecting the home ice. A lot has been made about the road team winning all eight meetings in the regular season, so it was nice to put that narrative to bed tonight. Game 2 is imperative because you know the Hounds will be desperate. Another key to this series for me is if/when Jack Beck will be back. He's a big piece of the Hounds' offense.

99% of Soo fans are fine but one game in and a few of them are already claiming conspiracy.
As for the end of the game, not unusual that teams try to act "tough" at the end of a game. Pretty sure it was just posturing to show that they won't back down and whatever. They'll come out with an attitude for game 2. Need to keep our guard up for it.

Bad game 2. Soo was everywhere, got in passing lanes, interrupted shots. Unfortunate collision injuring Oke. Hopefully not concussion. I think their guy tried to avoid but no room behind the net. Surprised Parekh didn't get taunting call for pointing to bench, especially after D'intino got it for pointing at the Soo fans after scoring. Maybe we are getting preference with refs. Gotta split in Soo now.

The comments in both teams Facebook fan groups are beyond ridiculous. What a cesspool.

I very much expect McConnell-Barker to be suspended for at least a game, more likely several, but I do not see anything posted on the OHL website yet. However, based on precedent we could see him suspended for up to six games. Or none. It's the OHL. We shall see. I'd be surprised, however, if he is playing tonight.

Yep. Two games in and the discourse has become a total nightmare. Sounds like Oke is not playing tonight and might be out for Game 4 as well. Going to be tough up north but hopefully we can get at least a split. No reason we can't with the talent on our team. The Hounds were much better in Game 2 as we all excepted; now it's our turn to make some adjustments.

If Barker is not suspended it's a total joke. From all the rumors out there, it sounds like Oke has a concussion and that was caused by a hit in a protected area. Right now Oke has been the best goalie in the playoffs by the numbers and if Barker is allowed to play when he cost us our #1 goalie it's absolute crap. He should get 2 games like all of the other head-checkers out there.

North Bay player got six games for a head check and a Missy player got four for a slash to the head. There is precedent for multiple games. Don't forget he got a 5 and a game too, and it was reviewed, so they already took it seriously. You could argue it's less egregious than the two I referenced here, but it's also on a goalie who wasn't expecting to be hit, so it's tough to compare.
That being said, it's getting pretty late in the day for them to announce it. I think it's ridiculous if he doesn't get at least a game, intent to injure or not. Goalie in the trapezoid and now out with an injury.
Soo reporter says on X that Oke is definitely out for tonight and is "day-to-day."
